Belt Piece ... (Make 1 Emerald and 1 Black) ... Starting at center, make a chain 1½ inches less than half of waist measurement.

1st rnd: 3 sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in each ch across, 3 sc in last ch. Working along other side of starting chain, make sc in each ch across.

2nd and 3rd rnds: (Sc in each sc to center sc of next 3-sc group, 3 sc in next sc) twice, sc in each sc to end of rnd. Sl st in next sc. Break off.

Trim ... (Make 1 Emerald and 1 Black) ... Make a chain 7 inches longer than length of a Belt Piece. Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. Break off.

Sew contrasting colored Trim pieces across Belt Pieces in 7 even scallops through center. Sew end of 2 Belt Pieces together. Make a ch-7 buttonloop at one end. Sew button on wrong side opposite buttonloop.

Tassel ...(Make 2 Emerald and 2 Black) ... Cut a cardboard 3 x 5 inches. Wind yarn 26 times around the 3-inch width. Draw a matching strand of wool under one end and tie tightly. Remove from cardboard. Wind several strands of matching wool around ¾ inch below tied end. Cut opposite ends and trim.

Chain ... (Make 1 Emerald and 1 Black) ... Make a chain 8 inches long. Break off. Tie in a bow. Sew contrasting colored Tassels to each end of chain. Sew chains to each end of Belt Pieces.
