Intermediate Hook No. 8 or No. 9 Velvet Ribbon Belt

A black velvet ribbon belt trimmed with a yellow and green crocheted cluster strip and a crochet-centered velvet bow.

Size
28 inch length of 2 inch Black velvet ribbon or slightly longer than waist length.

  • Steel crochet hook · No. 8 or No. 9

Pattern instructions

Belt

Starting

With Yellow, ch 6, 3 dtrc (3 times over hook) in 6th st from hook leaving last loop of each dtrc on hook, thread over and work off all loops at one time, * ch 9, 3 dtrc in 6th st from hook leaving last loop of each dtrc on hook, thread over and work off all loops at one time (cluster st), repeat from * 34 times or until long enough to fit across the 2 inch velvet ribbon, cut thread.

2nd Row

2nd Row. Attach Green in same space, ch 11 and working across side of cluster sts, work 1 sc in each of the next 3 ch sts between cluster sts, * ch 11, 1 sc in each of the next 3 ch sts between next 2 cluster sts, repeat from * across side ending with ch 11, sc in end, working on opposite side of cluster sts, repeat from 1st * across side.

3rd Row

3rd Row. 14 sc over 1st loop, sl st in center sc of the 3 sc group, * 14 sc over next loop, sl st in center sc of next 3 sc group, repeat from * all around working a sl st in sc at each end, cut thread.

Finishing

Press under a damp cloth. Turn end of 2 inch velvet under to form a point and sew. Finish opposite end in same manner. Sew hook and eye in position at points. Sew crocheted strip across center of velvet as illustrated.

Center For Bow

Starting

Center for bow. With Yellow, ch 8, join to form a ring, ch 3 and work 23 dc in ring, join.

2nd Row

2nd Row. * 1 sc in each of the next 3 dc, 2 sc in next dc, repeat from * all around, join.

3rd Row

3rd Row. 1 sc in each sc, join, cut thread. Using the 1 inch velvet ribbon, tie in bow. Sew Yellow center in center of bow and sew with "STAR" Mercerized Sewing Thread to belt as illustrated.
