Bon Voyage Pincushion Pattern #9090

Materials: Clark's O.N.T. "Brilliant," 2 balls of any color. Milward's steel crochet hook No. 10.

Make a chain 4½ inches long. 1st row: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. Ch 1, turn. 2nd row: Sc in each st across. Ch 1, turn. Repeat 2nd row for 22 inches. Fasten off. For top of cushion, make another piece like this; do not fasten off, but work all around 4 sides as follows: * Ch 5, skip 2 sts, sc in next st. Repeat from * around. Fasten off.

Side Band ... Ch 8. 1st row: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. Ch 1, turn. Work sc in sc until band is long enough to go all around sides of cushion. Fasten off.

Seam short ends of side band; sew top and bottom in place (loops extend beyond edges), stuffing cushion before opening becomes too small.

Thimble Case ... Ch 6, join. 1st rnd: 10 sc in ring. 2nd rnd: 2 sc in each st. Now work sc in each sc until piece is slightly less than depth of thimble. Sl st in next st. Break off, leaving 6-inch thread, and sew thimble case to one corner of top as in illustration.

Hang safety pins on loops. Arrange pins to read "Bon Voyage" or any suitable greeting.
