B.504, colors of your own choice; and J. & P. COATS or CLARK'S O.N.T. SIX STRAND EMBROIDERY FLOSS, Art. A.11 or B.11, 2 skeins of No. 1 White. Milwards Steel Crochet Hook No. 7. GAUGE: 3 sps make 1 inch; 3 rows make 1 inch.

PLACE MAT... Starting at narrow end with Skipper Blue, ch 110. 1st row: Dc in 8th ch from hook, * ch 2, skip 2 ch, dc in next ch. Repeat from * across. Ch 5, turn (35 sps). 2nd row: Skip first dc, * dc in next dc, ch 2. Repeat from * across, ending with ch 2, skip 2 ch, dc in next ch. Ch 5, turn. Repeat 2nd row until 59 rows have been completed. At end of last row ch 1 and turn. Sc closely around mat, making 3 sc in each sp and 5 sc in each corner. Join and break off. Next rnd: Attach White to first sc on any corner, sc in each sc around, making 3 sc in center sc of each corner. Join and break off.

Side Piece ... 1st rnd: Ch 5, * skip 2 sc, dc in next sc, ch 2. Repeat from * around, having a number of sps divisible by 5. Join. 2nd to 9th rnds incl: Ch 5, * dc in next dc, ch 2. Repeat from * around. Join. 10th rnd: Sc in same place as sl st, * 2 sc in next sp, sc in next dc. Repeat from * around. Join and break off. 11th rnd: Attach White to same place as sl st, sc in each sc around. Join and break off. Attach White to last sc rnd on bottom and sc closely around. Join and break off.
