Cock-a-Doodle Egg Warmers Pattern

CHICK (Make 4)

Body: Starting at center with Orange, ch 2. 1st rnd: 5 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Do not join rnds, but mark last st of each rnd.

2nd rnd: 2 sc in each sc around—5 sc increased.

3rd rnd: Sc in each sc around, increasing 5 sc evenly spaced.

Repeat 3rd rnd until piece measures 1°% inches in diameter, being careful increases do not fall over each other.

Next rnd: Sc in each sc around.

Repeat last rnd until length is about 2% inches from center.

Sl st in next sc. Ch 1, turn.

Following rnd: Sl st in each sc around. Break off and fasten.

Head: Work same as Body until piece measures 1% inches in diameter.

Now work even until length is 1% inches from center.

Next 3 rnds: Sc in each sc around, decreasing 3 sc evenly spaced—to dec 1 sc, draw up a loop in each of next 2 sc, thread over and draw through all loops on hook.

Sl st in next sc. Break off and fasten. Stuff head firmly and sew to body.

Wing (Make 2): Starting at long edge with Orange, ch 13.

1st row: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. Ch 3, turn.

2nd row: Skip first sc, dc in next 2 sc, hdc in next 3 sc, sc in next 3 sc, sl st in next sc. Ch 1, turn.

3rd row: Skip first sl st, sc in each of next 8 sts, sc in top of turning chain. Ch 1, turn.

4th row: Sc in first 6 sc, sl st in next sc. Break off and fasten.

Sew straight edge of wing to body, having starting chain at top.

Bill: Starting at long edge with Red, ch 9.

1st row: Dc in 4th ch from hook and in each ch across. Break off and fasten.

Fold in half and sew fold to head. Sew sequins and beads in place for eyes.

BONNET... With Violet, work same as Body until piece measures 1% inches in diameter, then work even until piece measures |inch from center. Ch 1, turn.

Now work brim as follows:

1st row: Sc in first 25 sc. Ch 1, turn.

Next 3 rows: Sc in each sc across. Ch 2, turn.

5th row: Sc in first sc, *ch 2, sc in next sc. Repeat from * across. Break off and fasten.

Sew pink ribbon to each side of bonnet. Place on head, tie ribbon into bow.

TURKISH FEZ... With Red, work same as Body until piece measures ¥/4 inch in diameter, then work even until piece measures | inch from center. Break off and fasten.

Stuff firmly and sew to head.

Tassel: Cut 15 strands of Black, each 3 inches long. Double these strands and wind a piece of thread around, Ya inch from fold. Trim ends. Sew to fez.

Place gold rick rack around neck and sew in place with large sequin and bead.

Comb: With Red, ch 8. Sc in 2nd ch from hook, (dc in next ch, sc in next ch) 3 times. Break off and fasten. Sew in place on head as shown.

TYROLEAN HAT... With Green, work same as Body until piece measures *% inch from center.

Next rnd: Sc in each sc around, increasing 5 sc evenly spaced.

Following rnd: Sc in each sc around. Break off and fasten.

Sew feather sequin in place. Sew hat to head. Tie red ribbon around neck. Sew sequin and bead to knot. Make a comb as before and sew to head.

FRENCH SAILOR... With Blue, work same as Body until piece measures 1 inch from center.

Next rnd: Sc in each sc around, decreasing 5 sc evenly spaced. Break off and fasten.

Sew to head. Cut 12 strands of White, each ]inch long. Tie at center and sew to top of hat.

Collar: Starting at neck edge with Blue, make a chain 4 inches long.

1st row: Dc in 4th ch from hook and in next ch, hdc in next ch, sc in each ch across to within last 3 ch, hdc in next ch, dc in last 2 ch. Ch 1, turn.

2nd row: Sl st in each st across and in top of ch-3. Break off and fasten.

Place around neck and sew in place, fastening at front with bead.
