Crochet One Coat Pattern (Sizes 14, 16, 18)

Pattern instructions
Back
Ch 72 (76-80). * Skip 1 st, 1 sc and 1 dc in next st; repeat from * to end. Ch 1, turn, * skip 1 dc, 1 sc and 1 dc in next sc; repeat from * to end. Repeat last row until 16 ins. from beg.
Turn, slip st over first 4 sts for underarm, ch 1, work pat. to within 4 sts of end, 1 slip st in next dc.
Turn, 1 slip st in first dc, 1 sc in next sc, skip 1 dc, work pat. to within 2 sts of end, 1 sc in last sc.
Ch 1, turn, skip sc, 1 slip st in first dc, 1 sc and 1 dc in next sc, work pat. to end, 1 slip st in last sc. Repeat last 2 rows twice; 52 (56-60) sts. Work even until 8 (8½-8½) ins. above underarm.
For all sizes—Turn, slip st over first 6 sts, ch 1, work to within 6 sts of end, 1 slip st in next dc (for size 16, repeat last row once—for size 18, repeat last row twice). For all sizes—Turn, slip st over first 4 sts, ch 1, work to within 4 sts of end, 1 slip st in next dc. For size 14, repeat last row twice (for size 16, repeat last row once—for size 18, do not repeat); 16 sts for back of neck. Fasten off.
Left Front
Ch 48 (50-52). Work pat. as for back until same length as back to armholes.
Turn, slip st over first 4 sts for underarm, ch 1, finish row. Dec. 1 st at armhole edge every row 6 times; 38 (40-42) sts. Work even until 7 (7½-7½) ins. above underarm, end at front edge.
Break off yarn, turn, skip first 18 sts; with loop on hook, slip st in next dc, work 1 sc and 1 dc in next sc, finish row. Dec. 1 st at neck edge every row twice; 18 (20-22) sts. Keeping neck edge even, shape shoulder as for back when armhole is same length as on back.
Right Front
Work same as left front until 8 ins. from beg., end at front edge.
Ch 1, turn, work 4 sts, ch 2, skip 3 sts, 1 sc and 1 dc in next sc, finish row. In next row, skip first ch over buttonhole, work 1 sc and 1 dc in 2nd ch st. Finish to correspond to left front, repeating buttonhole every 16th row twice more.
Sleeves
Ch 42 (44-46), work pat. for 16 rows.
Ch 1, turn, 1 sc in first dc, 1 sc and 1 dc in next sc, continue pat. to within 2 sts of end, 1 sc and 1 dc in next dc, 1 sc in last sc.
Ch 1, turn, 1 sc and 1 dc in first sc, work pat. across, end 1 sc and 1 dc in last sc; 46 (48-50) sts. Repeat these 2 inc. rows every 13th and 14th row 3 times; 58 (60-62) sts. Work even until 19½ ins. from beg., allowing 2 ins. for turn back cuff.
Dec. 1 st each side every row 6 times as for first and 2nd dec. rows of back. Work 1 row even. Repeat first dec. row again. Next row—Ch 1, turn, 1 sc in first sc, work pat., end 1 sc in last sc. Repeat 2nd dec. row again. Repeat last 4 rows 2 (3-3) times. Dec. 1 st each side every row 4 (2-2) times. Next row—Skip slip st, slip st in each of next 2 sts, ch 1, work pat. to within 2 sts of end, 1 slip st in next dc. Repeat last row twice; 14 (16-18) sts. Fasten off.
Pockets
Ch 28. Work pat. for 6 ins. Fasten off. Make 2.
Collar
Ch 64, work pat. for 1 row. Dec. 1 st each side of next row; repeat decs. every 2nd row as for sleeve cap, 5 times more; 52 sts. Work 1 row even. Fasten off.
Finishing
Sew seams. Sew in sleeves with seam at center underarm. Sew on collar, leaving 15 sts free for lapel on each front. Sew on pockets, 2 rows above lower edge and 6 sts from underarm seam, matching pat. From right side, beg. at last buttonhole on right front, work 1 row sc on edges of lapel, around collar and on edges of left lapel, increasing at corners and keeping work flat. Beg. again at last buttonhole, from wrong side, work 1 row sc on remainder of right front edge. Beg. at lower left front edge, from wrong side, work 1 row sc on left front to beg. of lapel. Finish buttonholes. Steam. Turn back sleeves for cuffs.
