Daisy Web Doily Pattern #FD-443
A daisy-web doily with a large yellow-and-white center flower, green openwork rounds, pointed tips, and eight small flowers sewn around the edge.
Materials
- Milwards Steel Hook · No. 9 (Size 20) or No. 10 (Size 30)
Pattern instructions
Large Flower Center
CENTER—Large Flower ... Starting at center with Yellow, ch 5. Join with sl st to form ring.
8 sc in ring. Join.
Picking up front loop only, in each sc around make (sc, ch 5) twice and sc. Join.
2 sc in back loop of each sc around. Join.
Repeat 2nd rnd. Join and break off.
Attach White to back loop of any sc on 3rd rnd, sc in each sc around. Join.
2 sc in each sc around. Join.
Sc in back loop of each sc around. Join.
Sc in each sc around. Join (32 sc).
Now work Large Petals individually as follows:
First Large Petal
Ch 1, 3 sc in front loop of same sc as sl st. Ch 1, turn.
2 sc in each sc across. Ch 1, turn.
2 sc in first sc, sc in each sc across, 2 sc in last sc. Ch 1, turn.
Sc in each sc across. Ch 1, turn.
Dec 1 sc, sc in each sc across—to dec 1 sc, work off 2 sc as 1 sc. Ch 1, turn.
(Work off 2 sc as 1 sc) twice. Ch 1, turn.
Work off 2 sc as 1 sc. Break off.
Second Large Petal
Skip 3 sc on 8th rnd of Center, attach thread to front loop of next sc and work as for First Petal. Complete remaining Petals in same manner.
Small Petal
Attach White to front loop of center free sc between Large Petals on 6th rnd of Center, 3 sc in same sc. Ch 1, turn.
Repeat 2nd and 3rd rows of Large Petal.
Sc in each sc across. Ch 1, turn.
Repeat 8th row of Large Petal.
Repeat 16th and 17th rows of Large Petal.
Skip 3 sc on same rnd, attach thread to next sc, complete as for First Small Petal, complete remaining petals the same way.
Center Continued
Continue to work Center in rnds as follows:
Attach Hunter's Green to any sc on 8th rnd and sc in back loop of each sc around. Join.
Ch 5, * tr in next sc, ch 1. Repeat from * around. Join with sl st to 4th ch of ch-5.
Ch 6, * tr in next tr, ch 2. Repeat from * around. Join.
Work as for 11th rnd, having 1 more ch between tr's on each rnd and having ch-7 at beginning of 12th rnd and ch-8 at beginning of 13th rnd.
Repeat 13th rnd.
Ch 4, 3 tr in same place as sl st, * ch 3, in next tr make dc, ch 4 and dc (shell made); ch 3, 4 tr in next tr. Repeat from * around. Join.
Ch 4, tr in each of next 3 tr, * ch 3, skip next sp, in next sp make dc, ch 4 and dc (shell made over shell); ch 3, tr in each of next 4 tr. Repeat from * around. Join.
Work as for last rnd, making ch-4 between shells and tr-groups. Join.
Work as for last rnd, having 1 ch more between shells and tr-groups on each rnd.
Repeat 24th rnd.
Ch 4, 2 tr in same place as sl st, 3 tr in each of next 3 tr, * ch 7, skip next sp, shell over shell, ch 7, 3 tr in each of next 4 tr. Repeat from * around. Join.
Ch 4, tr in next 11 tr, * ch 7, skip next sp, shell over shell, ch 7, tr in next 12 tr. Repeat from * around. Join.
Ch 4, tr in next 11 tr, * ch 8, skip next sp, shell over shell, ch 8, tr in next 12 tr. Repeat from * around. Join.
Ch 4, tr in next 9 tr, dec 1 tr—to dec 1 tr, work off 2 tr as 1 tr—* ch 10, skip next sp, shell over shell, ch 10, dec 1 tr, tr in next 8 tr, dec 1 tr. Repeat from * around. Join to first tr.
Ch 4, dec 1 tr, * tr in next 4 tr, work off 3 tr as 1 tr (2 tr decreased), ch 13, skip next sp, shell over shell, ch 13, dec 2 tr. Repeat from * around. Join to first tr.
Points
Ch 4, holding back on hook the last loop of each tr, make tr in next 5 tr, thread over and draw through all loops on hook (cluster made). Break off. Attach thread to first tr of next tr group and complete a cluster as before. Make a cluster in each remaining tr-group.
Small Flower
SMALL FLOWER (Make 8) ... Work as for Large Flower until 5 rnds are completed.
3 sc in same place as sl st. Ch 1, turn. Complete as for Small Petal.
Skip 1 sc on 5th rnd, attach thread to next sc. Complete as for First Petal. Complete remaining Petals in same manner. Sew Flowers in place around Doily. Starch lightly and press.
