Elephant Hanger Pattern

HANGER COVER. ... Starting at center with Red, ch 2.

1st rnd: 5 sc in 2nd ch from hook.

2nd and 3rd rnds: 2 sc in each sc around.

Sc in each sc around until piece measures 5'2 inches or covers half of hanger. Break off.

Make another piece the same way. Slide over hanger and sew in place.

HEAD ... Starting at snout with Platinum, ch 2.

1st rnd: 5 sc in 2nd ch from hook.

2nd rnd: 2 sc in each sc around (10 sc).

3rd rnd: 2 sc in next 2 sc (2 sc increased—top of head), sc in each sc around.

4th to 20th rnds incl: Sc in each sc, increasing 2 sc at top of head on 11th and 19th rnds.

21st rnd: 2 sc in next sc, sc in next 4 sc, 2 sc in next sc, sc in each remaining sc.

22nd rnd: (2 sc in next sc, sc in next sc) 4 times; sc in each sc around.

Sc in each sc, increasing 4 sc evenly across top of head for 1' inches more, then sc in each sc around. Join and break off.

BACK... Starting at center with Platinum, ch 2.

1st rnd: 7 sc in 2nd ch from hook.

2nd rnd: 2 sc in each sc around.

Sc in each sc, increasing 7 sc evenly on each rnd until piece measures 2% inches in diameter. Break off.

Fold pipe cleaners in half, insert in trunk and stuff firmly with cotton. Hold face in front of hanger and sew back piece in place on back of hanger. Embroider face as illustrated. Sew buttons in place for eyes.

EAR (Make 2) ... Work as for Back until piece measures 4 inches in diameter. Break off.

Fold Ears in half and sew rounded ends together. Sew in place on head.

HAT ... Starting at top with Spanish Red, ch 2.

1st rnd: 5 sc in 2nd ch from hook.

2nd rnd: 2 sc in each sc around.

3rd rnd: Sc in each sc, increasing 5 sc evenly around.

Now work without increasing until piece measures 1 inch. Break off.

Stuff hat and sew to head. Trim with ribbon.
