LUNCHEON MAT... Starting at center, ch 12. Join with sl st to form ring.
Ch 4, 41 tr in ring. Join.
Ch 5, * skip 1 tr, dc in next tr, ch 2. Repeat from * around. Join.
Sl st in first sp, ch 3, 4 dc in same sp, drop loop from hook, insert hook in top of ch-3, draw dropped loop through (pc st made), * ch 5, 5 dc in next sp, drop loop from hook, insert hook in first dc, draw dropped loop through (another pc st made). Repeat from * around, ending with ch 2, dc in top of first pc st.
* Ch 6, sc in next loop. Repeat from * around, ending with ch 3, dc in dc.
* Ch 7, sc in next loop. Repeat from * around, ending with ch 3, tr in dc.
* Ch 7, sc in next loop, 11 tr in next loop, sc in next loop. Repeat from * around, ending with sl st in tr.
Sl st to center of next loop, sc in same loop, * ch 7, sc in next tr, (ch 2, skip 1 tr, sc in next tr) 5 times; ch 7, sc in next loop. Repeat from * around, ending with ch 3, tr in first sc.
Ch 7, sc in next loop, * ch 7, (pc st in next loop, ch 2) 4 times; pc st in next loop, (ch 7, sc in next loop) twice. Repeat from * around, ending with ch 3, tr in tr.
Work as for last rnd, having 1 pc st less on each pineapple and 1 loop more between pineapples on each rnd (1 pc st and 7 loops on 12th rnd).
* Ch 7, sc in next loop. Repeat from * around, ending with ch 3, tr in tr.
* 11 tr in next loop, (sc in next loop, ch 7) 5 times; sc in next loop. Repeat from * around, ending with ch 3, tr in tr.
* Ch 7, (sc in next tr, ch 2) 5 times; sc in next tr, (ch 7, sc in next loop) twice; 11 tr in next loop, sc in next loop, ch 7, sc in next loop. Repeat from * around. Join as before.
Ch 7, sc in next loop, * (ch 7, skip 2 loops, sc in next loop) twice; ch 7, sc in next loop, ch 7, sc in next tr, (ch 2, skip 1 tr, sc in next tr) 5 times; (ch 7, sc in next loop) twice. Repeat from * around. Join as before.

Work as for last rnd, having 1 pc st less on each pineapple and 1 loop more between pineapples on each rnd (1 pc st and 11 loops on 23rd rnd).
* Ch 7, sc in next loop. Repeat from * around. Join as before.
Work as for last rnd, increasing 3 loops evenly around—to inc 1 loop, make sc, ch 7 and sc in same loop. Join (80 loops on rnd).
* 11 tr in next loop, sc in next loop, (ch 7, sc in next loop) twice. Repeat from * around. Join as before.
* Ch 3, (sc in next tr, ch 2) 5 times; sc in next tr, ch 3, sc in next loop, ch 7, sc in next loop. Repeat from * around, ending with ch 7, sl st in tr.
Sl st in next loop, sc in same loop, * (ch 2, pc st in next loop) 5 times; ch 2, sc in next loop, in next loop make (2 sc, ch 2) 3 times and 2 sc; sc in next loop. Repeat from * around. Join and break off.
Napkin
Make a narrow hem all around linen. Attach thread to any corner, 2 sc in same place, ch 3, sc in 3rd ch from hook (picot made), 2 sc in same place as last 2 sc were made, sc closely around, making 8 sc to 1 inch and making a picot after every 4th sc. Work other corners as before. Join and break off.
Starch lightly and press.
