Flower Petal Bag

This Hat and Bag can be made with: "GEM" HAT and BAG YARN, Article 144. 2 skeins Lt. Yellow or color desired for hat. 3 skeins for bag. 1 yd. ½ inch velvet ribbon for hat. 1 round plastic disc 6 inches in diameter. Aluminum crochet hook size G and steel crochet hook No. 1.

BAG With right side of plastic disc toward you and No. 1 hook attach yarn in any hole, 3 sc in same space, * ch 1, 3 sc in next hole, repeat from * all around, ch 1, join in 1st sc.

2nd Round. Change to size G hook, ch 3 (counts as 1 dc), dc in same space, skip 1 st, dc in next dc, repeat from * all around, join in 3rd st of ch (65 sts).

3rd Round. Ch 3, 2 dc in same space, ch 2, 3 dc in next dc, skip 1 dc, dc around entire post of next dc, * skip 1 dc, 3 dc in next dc, ch 2, 3 dc in next dc, skip 1 dc, dc around entire post of next dc, repeat from * all around, join in 3rd st of ch.

4th Round. Sl st to ch 2 loop, ch 3, 2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc in same space, skip 3 dc of same shell, dc around entire post of next dc, * 3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc (shell) in next ch 2 loop, skip 3 dc of same shell, dc around entire post of next dc, repeat from * all around, join in 3rd st of ch.

5th Round. Sl st to center of shell, ch 3, 2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc in same space, skip 3 dc of same shell, dc around entire post of next dc, * shell in next shell, skip 3 dc of same shell, dc around entire post of next dc, repeat from * all around, join in 3rd st of ch. Repeat last round 6 times.

12th Round. Sl st to center of shell, * ch 3, skip 3 dc of same shell, dc around entire post of next dc, ch 3, sl st in center of next shell, repeat from * all around ending to correspond, join in top of 1st shell.

13th Round. BEADING: Ch 8, d trc (3 times over hook) in next dc, * ch 3, d trc in next sl st, ch 3, d trc in next dc, repeat from * all around, ch 3, join.

14th Round. Ch 3, 2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc in same space, dc in next d trc, * shell in next d trc, dc in next d trc, repeat from * all around, join in 3rd st of ch.

15th Round. Same as 5th round, cut yarn.

DRAWSTRING: With size G hook work a chain about 30 inches, sl st in 2nd st from hook, then sl st in each remaining st of ch, cut yarn. Work another string in same manner. Lace through beading lacing over 1 d trc and under the next d trc. Lace other drawstring in same manner starting from opposite side. Fasten metal tips to free ends if desired and knot.
