Starting at waist, make a chain 5½ inches long.

Dc in 5th ch from hook, * ch 1, skip next ch, dc in next ch. Repeat from * across until 19 sps in all have been made. Cut off remaining chain. Ch 1, turn.

Sc in first dc, * ch 5, sc in next sp. Repeat from * across, ending with ch 5, sc in 3rd ch of turning chain. Ch 5, turn.

Sc in first loop, * ch 5, sc in next loop. Repeat from * across. Turn.

Ch 5, 3 dtr in first loop and in each loop around. Join with sl st to top of ch-5.

Sc in same place as sl st, * ch 5, skip next dtr, sc in next dtr. Repeat from * around, ending with ch 2, dc in first sc.

* Ch 5, sc in next loop. Repeat from * around, ending with ch 2, dc in dc.

Repeat 1st to 4th rnds incl 3 more times. Break off at end of last rnd.

Attach thread to opposite side of starting chain on Skirt.

Ch 3, 2 dc in each sp across. Ch 4, turn.

Skip first 2 dc, * dc in next dc, ch 1, skip next dc. Repeat from * across, ending with ch 1, dc in top of ch-3. Ch 3, turn.

2 dc in each sp across. Break off.

Attach thread to 6th dc, ch 10, skip next 8 dc, sl st in next dc. Turn. Now work in rnds as follows:

2 sc in first ch, 2 half dc in next ch, 2 dc in next ch, 2 tr in next ch, 2 dtr in each of next 2 ch, 2 tr in next ch, 2 dc in next ch, 2 half dc in next ch, 2 sc in last ch, sc in each st at underarm. Join to first sc.

Sc in same place as sl st, * ch 3, skip next st, sc in next st. Repeat from * around. Join.

Sl st to center of next loop, sc in same loop, * ch 3, sc in next loop. Repeat from * around. Join.

Sc in each loop around. Join.

Ch 3, dc in each sc around. Join and break off.

Leaving 9 dc free at front of bodice attach thread to next dc, ch 10, skip next 8 dc, sl st in next dc and complete second sleeve to correspond. Attach thread to neck opening, sc closely around opening. Break off.

Ch 4, 13 dc in 4th ch from hook. Join.

Sc in same place as sl st, * ch 3, sc in next dc. Repeat from * around. Join.

* Sc in next loop, ch 3. Repeat from * around. Join.

2 sc in each loop around. Join.

Sc in each sc around. Join.

Repeat 2nd, 3rd and 4th rnds.

Sl st in next loop, ch 3, 2 dc in same loop, 3 dc in each loop around. Join.

Sc in same place as sl st, * ch 3, skip next dc, sc in next dc. Repeat from * around. Join and break off.

Sew 2 snap fasteners to back of bodice. Cut a piece of narrow velvet ribbon 24 inches long for sash. Tie around waist in a bow. Place a piece of ribbon around crown of hat and tie in a bow at back.
