or "STAR" Crochet Cotton Article 30, Size 30 — 2 Balls Tinted Pink and Yellow or any Shaded Color — Steel 12 — and 1 yd. Narrow Ribbon

TOP SECTION: Starting at crown, ch 8, join to form a ring, ch 3, 17 dc in ring, join in 3rd st of ch. 2nd Row—Ch 3, dc in same space, * 2 dc in next dc, repeat from * all around, join each row. 3rd Row—Working in dc, increase in every other st. 4th Row—Increase in every 3rd dc. 5th Row—Increase in every 4th dc. 6th Row—Increase in every 5th dc, then work 4 rows even.

11th Row—Ch 3, 1 dc in each of the next 2 dc, * ch 1, 1 dc in each of the next 3 dc, repeat from * all around, ch 1, join. 12th Row—Sl st into loop, ch 6, trc in same space, * ch 2, 1 trc, ch 2, 1 trc (shell) in next ch 1 loop, repeat from * all around, ch 2, join in 4th st of ch. 13th Row—Sl st into loop, ch 6, trc in same space, ch 2, trc in same space, * 3 trc with ch 2 between each trc in center of next shell, repeat from * all around, join. 14th Row—Sl st to next trc, ch 6, trc in same space, ch 2, trc in same space, * skip 2 trc, 3 trc with ch 2 between each trc in next trc, repeat from * all around, join. 15th Row—Sl st to next trc, ch 6, trc in same space, ch 2, trc in same space, * ch 1, skip 2 trc, 3 trc with ch 2 between each trc in next trc, repeat from * all around, ch 1, join. 16th Row—Sl st to next trc, ch 7, dtrc in same space, ch 2, dtrc in same space, * ch 2, skip 2 trc, 3 dtrc with ch 2 between each dtrc in next trc (shell), repeat from * all around, ch 2, join. 17th Row—Same as last row but having ch 3 between group of shells. 18th Row—Sl st to next dtrc, ch 8, dc in 4th st from hook, trc in same space, ch 4, dc in top of trc just made, * trc in same space, ch 4, skip 1 loop, sc in next ch 3 loop, ch 4, skip 1 dtrc, trc in next dtrc, ch 4, dc in top of trc just made, trc in same space, ch 4, dc in top of trc just made, repeat from * all around ending row to correspond, join, break thread.

UNDER SECTION: Work 1st 5 rows same as 1st 5 rows of crown. 6th Row—Increase in every 10th dc. 7th Row—Increase in every 11th dc. 8th Row—1 sc in each dc, break thread.

Starch brim if desired. Fill crown with cotton. Sew under section in position over the cotton. Lace ribbon through 16th row of top section.
