TOP SECTION: Starting at crown, ch 8, join to form a ring, ch 3, 17 dc in ring, join in 3rd st of ch. 2nd Row—Ch 3, dc in same space, * 2 dc in next dc, repeat from * all around, join each row. 3rd Row—Working in dc, increase in every other st. 4th Row—Increase in every 3rd dc. 5th Row—Increase in every 4th dc. 6th Row—Increase in every 5th dc, then work 4 rows even.

Finishing
Starch brim if desired. Fill crown with cotton. Sew under section in position over the cotton. Lace ribbon through 16th row of top section.
