Knot Stitch Cap with Scarf Pattern

Materials Required: AMERICAN THREAD COMPANY "DAWN" NYLON or "DAWN" NYLON POMPADOUR or "DAWN" SOCK and SWEATER YARN 3 ozs. Lt. Blue or Baby Blue or color of your choice. Plastic crochet hook size F. 1 Bicycle clip.

Ch 38 (chain should measure about 8 inches), sc in 2nd st from hook, 1 sc in each remaining st of ch, turn.

2nd Row: Work a double knot st (single knot st: * draw up a ½ inch loop on hook, yarn over and pull through loop, sc over single loop of st, repeat from * once for double knot st), skip 2 sc, sc in next sc, repeat from beginning across row, turn.

3rd Row: Work 3 single knot sts, sc in center sc of next double knot st, * work a double knot st, sc in center sc of next double knot st, repeat from * across row, ending with sc in 1st sc of 3 single knot st group, turn.

Repeat 3rd row until work measures 59 inches, do not cut yarn, turn. Ch 1 and work 37 sc across row. Cut yarn.

TASSEL: Wind yarn over a 6 inch cardboard 150 times. Tie one end, cut opposite end. Tie again about 1 ½ inches from 1st tying. Make 2 more tassels in same manner.

FINISHING: Fold piece in half and sew 7 inches down from fold sewing the border sts on inside of cap. Fold 1st row in half and sew across, turn work inside out to form a point. Finish opposite end in same manner.

EDGE: Attach yarn at joining in back of cap, * 3 sc in next loop, work a double knot st, repeat from * all around, join, cut yarn.

Sew a tassel to each point at lower edges and to point at top. Cover bicycle clip with sc and sew clip in position around inside of center front of cap.
