Miss Italy Doll Pattern #7214
A vintage crochet costume for a 7 or 8-inch doll featuring a green, red, and white skirt with bodice, sleeves, apron, head piece, and belt, originally published in DMC #403, Dolls of Many Nations.

Pattern instructions
Skirt
With Green, ch 33 (about 3 1/2 inches), 1 dc in 4th ch from hook, 1 dc in each remaining ch.
Ch 5, turn, 1 tr in 2nd dc, ch 1, work [1 tr and ch 1] in each of next 28 dc, 1 tr in top ch of ch-3; to join Skirt, ch 1, slip st in 4th ch of ch-5.
Ch 5, 1 tr in first ch-1 sp, * ch 1, 1 tr in next tr, ch 1, 1 tr in next ch-1 sp; rpt from STAR around; end, ch 1, join (with slip st) in 4th ch of ch-5.
Ch 1, slip st in first sp, ch 5, 1 tr in next sp, [ch 1 and 1 tr] in each remaining sp; end ch 1, join in 4th ch of ch-5.
Rpt rnd 2. Rpt rnd 3 four times. Fasten off.
With Red, 1 tr in joined st, 1 tr in next sp, * 1 tr in next tr, 1 tr in next sp; rpt from STAR around, join in first tr, fasten off.
With Green, 1 tr in joined st, ch 1, skip next tr, * 1 tr in next tr, ch 1, skip next tr; rpt from STAR around, join in first tr, fasten off.
With White, rpt rnd 9.
Rpt rnd 10 but do not fasten off.
Rpt rnd 3, fasten off.
Bodice
With Red, working on other side of first row of Skirt [1 dc and ch 1] in each of 30 sts, 1 dc in end st (31 dc).
Ch 4, turn, skip first sp, 1 dc in next sp, [ch 1 and 1 dc] in each remaining sp.
Rpt row 2 twice. Fasten off.
Shoulder Strap
Turn, skip first 2 dc, with Red, 1 dc in next dc, [ch 1 and 1 dc] in each of next 2 dc (2 sps).
Ch 4, turn, 1 dc in 2nd dc, ch 1, 1 dc in next dc.
Ch 4, turn, 1 dc in 2nd dc, ch 1, 1 dc in 3rd ch of ch-4.
Rpt row 3 three times. Fasten off leaving 7 inches of thread to sew Strap in place. Skip 4 sps for underarm, sew end of Strap to top of next 2 sps at front of Bodice. Work other Shoulder Strap to correspond.
Sleeves
With Red, work [1 dc and ch 1] in each of 4 sps at underarm, [1 dc, ch 1, 1 dc, ch 1, 1 dc, ch 1] in each of 6 sps of Shoulder Strap, join in first dc.
Ch 1, slip st in first sp, ch 4, 1 dc in next sp, ch 1, [1 dc and ch 1] in each remaining sp, join in 3rd ch of ch-4.
Rpt rnd 2 seven times.
Ch 1, slip st in first sp, ch 3, skip next sp, * 1 dc in next sp, skip next sp; rpt from STAR around, join in top of ch-3.
Ch 1, 1 sc in each st around, join in first sc. Fasten off.
Neckband
With Red, work a row of sc all around neck edge (about 1 sc in each sp).
Ch 1, turn, 1 sc in each sc across. Fasten off.
With White, embroider cross-sts on Cuffs and Neckband as shown.
Apron
With White, ch 69, 1 dc in 4th ch from hook, 1 dc in each remaining ch, fasten off.
Skip first 25 dc, with White, work 1 dc in back loop of next dc, [ch 1 and 1 dc] in back loop of next 16 dc.
Ch 4, turn, 1 dc in first dc, ch 1, [1 dc and ch 1] in each dc to last dc, work [1 dc, ch 1, 1 dc] in last dc.
Ch 4, turn, 1 dc in first dc, ch 1, [1 dc and ch 1] in each dc to turning ch, [1 dc, ch 1, 1 dc] in 3rd ch of turning ch.
Ch 4, turn, 1 dc in 2nd dc, [ch 1 and 1 dc] in each remaining dc; end, ch 1, 1 dc in 3rd ch of ch-4.
Rpt row 6 three times. Fasten off.
Turn, with Red, work 1 dc in each dc and in each sp to turning ch, 1 dc in 3rd ch of turning ch, fasten off.
Turn, with White, 1 dc in first dc, * ch 1, skip next dc, 1 dc in next dc; rpt from STAR across.
Ch 4, turn, 1 dc in 2nd dc, [ch 1 and 1 dc] in each remaining dc. Rpt row 6. Fasten off.
Head Piece Back
With White, ch 13, 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook, 1 sc in each of next 11 chs (12 sc).
Ch 1, turn, 1 sc in each sc across.
Rpt row 2 four times.
Ch 1, turn, 1 sc in each sc to last sc, 2 sc in last sc.
Rpt row 7 seven times (20 sc in row 14).
Head Piece Top
Ch 1, slip st in each of first 4 sc, ch 1, 1 sc in front loop of each of next 12 sc, leaving last 4 sc free.
Ch 1, turn, 1 sc in each sc across.
Rpt row 2 eleven times. Ch 1, turn, work a row of sc around 4 sides of Top (using free loops of row 14 of Back), join in first sc, fasten off. Tack the first and last sts of row 14 to sides of Top as indicated by X on diagram.
Belt
With Black, chain for 1 1/2 inches, work 3 sc in 2nd ch from hook.
Ch 1, turn, 2 sc in first sc, 1 sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc (5 sc).
Ch 1, turn, 2 sc in first sc, 1 sc in each sc to last sc, 2 sc in last sc (9 sc in row 4).
Ch 1, turn, 1 sc in each sc across. Work 17 more even rows.
Ch 1, turn, draw up a loop in each of first 2 sc, yo, thru all 3 loops on hook, 1 sc in each sc to last 2 sc, draw up a loop in each of last 2 sc, yo, thru all 3 loops on hook.
Rpt row 23 twice.
Ch 1, turn, draw up a loop in each sc, yo, thru all loops on hook, chain for 1 1/2 inches, fasten off.
