Pansie Pin Cushion Doll Pattern #552
A crochet pansy flower set for an 8-inch character doll used as a pin cushion, with ribbon-covered base, originally published in Doreen Knitting #104, Dolls.

Pansie
Starting at the center, using the main color, make a chain of 8 sts, join with a slip st to form a ring. Ch 5, make 2 trc into ring, * ch 5, 3 trc into ring, repeat from * twice more; ch 7, 3 trc into ring, ch 7, join with a slip st to top of first ch-5 (5 spaces).
* 1 sc in center st of trc group, over next space make — 1 dc, 12 trc, 1 dc; repeat from * twice more, 1 sc in center st of trc group, over next space make — 1 dc, 1 trc, 12 dble trc, 1 trc, 1 dc; repeat from * once more, ending with a slip st to first st. Break thread.
Tie in contrasting color, * 1 sc in next st, ch 1, repeat from * around once. Break thread and fasten off. Make 2 pansies for bag, 2 for dress trimming, 2 for blouse - one on each arm, 1 for hat.
Pin Cushion Base
First cut a cardboard circle 5 inches in diameter. Cut the three inch ribbon into two pieces, stitch together to make it 6 inches in width. Cut off a piece 6 inches for one side of the circle. Stitch this piece to cardboard circle. Sew ends together on the remaining piece. Sew to circle. Take the piece of cotton and wrap around doll. Insert doll into ribbon. Gather top of ribbon and draw tightly to waist of doll.
Finishing
Pin one pansie onto doll hair for hat. Blouse part: Slip 1 pansie on each of the doll arms through a ch-7 space. Tie together in back with narrow ribbon. Pin the front with a pin. Bag: Place two pansies together, tie through with ribbon with a bow in center. Sew the remaining two onto skirt as in illustration.
