Note

Outline shows the finished size of the linen center for this interesting doily. To mark your linen for hemstitching, make a tracing on tissue paper of the doily you wish to make. Your tracing can be transferred to the linen and the hemstitching done on this line.

Edging

Motif

Ch 7, join with sl st to form ring. * 1 sc, 1 hdc, 6 tr in ring. Ch 4, turn. 1 sl st in top of 2nd tr, ch 4, 1 sl st in top of 3rd tr, ch 4, 1 sl st in top of 4th tr, ch 4, 1 sl st in top of 5th tr, ch 6, turn. 1 sl st in 1st loop made by ch-4. Ch 6, 1 sl st in 2nd loop, ch 6, 1 sl st in 3rd loop, ch 6, 1 sl st in 4th loop, ch 6, sc in top of last tr. 1 tr, 1 dc and 1 sc in ring. Ch 14. Sl st back in 7th st from hook to form ring. Repeat from *.

Joining

After the first motif is made, join the succeeding ones by catching the 3rd ch of the 1st ch-6 into last scallop of adjacent motif. Join scallops of 1st and last motif by making ch 7 and joining with sl st to 1st ring. Whip edging to doily.
