NECKBAND Using 3½ M/M (No. 9) Hook and M., work 20 rounds d.c. evenly around neck edge, missing 2 d.c. at each corner in every round. Fasten off.

FRINGE Wind yarn around a piece of cardboard 4 ins. wide and cut along one side. Wrong side facing, using 5 M/M (No. 6) Hook and 5 strands of yarn, fold in half and draw loop through a sp. at lower edge, pull ends through loop and tighten. Rep. around lower edge.

CAP Using 3½ M/M (No. 9) Hook and M., make 4 ch., join with a sl.st. to form ring. 1st round—6 d.c. in ring. 2nd round—2 d.c. in each d.c. (12 d.c.) 3rd round—(2 d.c. in next d.c., 1 d.c. in next d.c.) 6 times. (18 d.c.) 4th round—* 2 d.c. in next d.c., 1 d.c. in each of next 2 d.c., * rep. from * to * 5 times. CROWN With right side facing, using 4 M/M (No. 8) Hook and M., join yarn at beg. of one motif and work 14 h.tr. along side of each motif to end. Fasten off. Continue inc. in this manner until there are 152 d.c. Fasten off. Make 6 motifs. MAKE UP Using a flat seam, join motifs tog. to form a circle, then sew to center of cap. With right side facing, using 3½ M/M (No. 9) Hook and M., work 6 rounds d.c. evenly around lower edge of cap. Fasten off.
