MATERIALS: J. & P. Coats Tatting Cotton, Size 70, 1 ball of Blue... Steel Crochet Hook No. 14... Ruffled pin cushion.
Motif
MOTIF... 1st row: Ch 6, in 6th ch from hook make 2 dc, ch 2 and 2 dc (shell made). Ch 5, turn.
2nd row: Shell in sp of shell. Ch 5, turn. Repeat the 2nd row until there are ten ch-5 loops on one side and nine ch-5 loops on the other side. Ch 5, turn.
Next row: 2 dc in sp of shell, ch 1, sl st in st where 1st shell was made, thus joining strip to form ring; ch 1, 2 dc in same place as last 2 dc were made.
Following rnd: * Ch 2, sc in next loop on inner side of ring. Repeat from * around, ending with ch 2, sl st in 1st sc. Break off.
Outer Edge
Now work along outer edge of ring as follows: 1st rnd: Attach thread to a ch-5 loop, ch 4, in same loop make (dc, ch 1) 5 times and dc; * in next ch-5 loop make (dc, ch 1) 6 times and dc. Repeat from * around, ending with sl st in 3rd st of ch-4.
2nd rnd: * Sc in next ch-1 sp, (ch 3, sc in next sp) 5 times. Repeat from * around. Sl st in 1st sc. Break off.
Edging And Assembly
EDGING... Work as for Motif, having inner rnd of ring fit around cushion at base of ruffle. Sew motif and edging to cushion.
