Shell Belt Pattern #66

Thread is used double throughout.

To begin, make 24 sc over one ivory ring. Then make 1 sc in each of the first 7 sc, taking back loop of st only. Ch 4, turn.

1st row: 1 dc in same st from which ch-4 started, ch 1, 1 dc in same st, ch 1, 1 dc in same st. Skip 2 sts, 1 dc in next, skip 2 sts, 1 dc in next, ch 1, 1 dc in same st, ch 1, 1 dc in same st, ch 1, 1 dc in same st.

2nd row: Ch 4, 1 dc in center sp of 4-dc group, ch 1, make 2 more dc with ch-1 between in same sp. Skip next sp, 2 dc in next sp, 2 dc in next sp, skip 1 sp, 4 dc with ch-1 between in next sp. Ch 4, turn.

3rd row: 3 dc with ch-1 between in center sp of 4-dc group, 1 dc between center 4-dc of previous row, 4 dc with ch-1 between in sp between last 2 dc. Ch 4, turn.

Repeat rows 2 and 3 alternately until belt is desired length. Then cover other ring with 24 sc and fasten to this end to correspond with other end.

Cord: Measure off about 25 strands of thread about 30 inches long. Twist tightly, then double the twisted strands and give them a second twist in the opposite direction. Finish ends with crocheted balls of sc. Stuff balls with cotton.
