Top ... Starting at tip of crown, ch 2. 1st rnd: 8 sc in 2nd ch from hook. 2nd rnd: * Sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc. Repeat from * around. 3rd and 4th rnds: Sc in each sc. 5th rnd: * Sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc. Repeat from * around. 6th, 7th and 8th rnds: Repeat 3rd rnd. 9th rnd: * Sc in next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc. Repeat from * around. 10th to 13th rnds incl: Repeat 3rd rnd. 14th rnd: * Sc in 4 sc, 2 sc in next sc. Repeat from * around. 15th to 18th rnds incl: Repeat 3rd rnd. 19th rnd: Repeat 5th rnd. 20th rnd: Repeat 9th rnd. 21st rnd: Repeat 14th rnd; sl st in next st. 22nd rnd: Ch 4, * dc in next st, ch 1. Bottom ... Ch 4. 1st rnd: 13 dc in 4th ch from hook, join with sl st (14 dc, counting ch-3 as 1 dc). 2nd rnd: Ch 3, dc in joining, 2 dc in each dc around. Join. 3rd rnd: Ch 3, dc in joining, * dc in next dc, 2 dc in next dc. Repeat from * around. Join. Continue thus, working dc over dc and increasing as necessary to keep work flat, until piece measures about 3½ inches in diameter. Fasten off.

Draw ribbon through 1st row of spaces. Tie ends in a small flat bow. Then draw ribbon under dc-clusters and over dc's all around edge. Tie ends in a bow. Slip thimble into crown. Cut 3 circles of felt, 3½ inches in diameter. Sew 1 circle to wrong side of bottom. Place other 2 pieces of felt between felt side of bottom and top, and sew all pieces together at one point.
