Tassel and Cord Pattern #304H (or #910)

here are slight variations to materials and instructions between these versions of the same pattern in different publications. Versions are below.

Tassel and Cord Pattern #304H from Spool Cotton #34, Crochet Designs For The Hostess.

These can be made of Clark's O.N.T. or J. & P. Coats Mercerized Crochet in Size 5 to 10. Curtain pulls are usually made in White or Ecru, but if you wish to make tassels for other decorative purposes, you will find interesting colors from which to choose in Size 10. Usea Milward's steel crochet hook No. 7, 8or9. Aboard 15x 4x linches with a 2-inch nail ¥%inch from end is useful to wind your tassel on. If not convenient, a book will serve.

Tassel. Make aring by winding thread around thumb 20 times. Place 43 scinthis ring.

2ndrnd:1scineachsc. Join around with sl st.

3rd rnd: *Scineachof next 3sc, ch 3 forap. Repeat from * until 7 p have been made. After 7thp,*scinnextsc,ch4, skip 2sc, andrepeat from * 6 more times making 7 ch-4 loops in all. Break thread and wind over a 5-inch cardboard 10 times, tying this into 2nd ch-4 loop. Make 4 more fringes in same way in each of next 4 ch-4 loops (5 in all).

Cord. Ch2,s cin lst ch, * turn work around, insert hook through both loops of st just made, andsc. Repeat from * until 7 to 8 inches of cord are made. Sewcord to 4th p at top of tassel.

Cord: Ch2,scinlstch. * Turn work over, insert hook down through the 2 loops around base of st just made and make ansc. Repeat from * for desired length. Sew cord to center picot at top of tassel.

Materials: About 28 yds are required for | curtain pull. Milward's steel crochet hook No. 5or 6. Abonering, linchin diameter.

Cord. Ch 2, turn. S cin 2nd ch from hook, ch], turn. * Working loosely, make sc ins c just made, ch], turn. Repeat from * for 12 inches. SI st to cord 4 inches in from hook. Fasten and break off.

Ring. Istrnd: Make 43scinbone ring.

2nd rnd: Scin eachsc.

3rdrnd: * Scineachof next 3sc, ch-3p, repeat from * until 9 p's are made. Thenscineach of next 2 sc, ** ch4, skip 2sc,scinnextsc. Repeat from ** until 5 loops are made. Join with sl st. Fasten and break off.

Fringe. Make fringe in each of 5 loops. To make a fringe, cut 10 strands of thread, each 12 inches long. Double these strands, forming aloop. Pullloop through sp and draw the loose ends of fringe through this loop. Pull tight. Trim fringe evenly. Sew cord to center p of ring.
