Tea Cozy Pattern #811
Two-section crocheted tea cozy in knitting worsted with amber cluster-stitch stripes, white borders, and yarn flower stems. Originally published in Star #80, Crochet Gay and Gifty Ideas.
Materials
- Plastic crochet hook · No. 5 or G
Pattern instructions
Tea Cozy
With White ch 36 rather loosely, sc in 2nd st from hook, 1 sc in each remaining st of ch (35 sc), drop White.
Attach Amber, ch 1, turn, sc in 1st sc, * cluster st in next sc (cluster st: 3 trc in same space leaving last loop of each trc on hook, yarn over and pull through all loops at one time), sc in next sc, repeat from * across row, ch 1, turn.
1 sc in each sc and 1 sc in each cluster st (35 sc), drop Amber, turn.
When changing color always complete last half of st with next color.
Pick up White, ch 1 and work 1 sc in each sc, ch 1, turn.
1 sc in each sc, drop White, turn.
Pick up Amber, ch 1, sc in 1st sc, * cluster st in next sc, sc in next sc, repeat from * across row, ch 1, turn.
Repeat from 3rd row 4 times (6 cluster st rows).
Cut White, continue with Amber, sc in 1st sc, * skip the cluster st, sc in next sc, repeat from * across row, ch 1, turn.
1 sc in each sc, ch 1 to turn each row.
Decrease in every other st (to decrease: * insert hook in next st, pull loop through, repeat from * once, yarn over and pull through all loops at one time), cut yarn.
Work another section in same manner.
Sew sections together on each side leaving an opening for spout and handle.
Stems
Cut Green 10 inches long for each stem.
Flowers
Cut Colors 5 inches long, double in half, then double in half again, then double in half a 3rd time. Using 1 stem, wrap around center and tie securely having both ends the same length.
