Materials
CLARK'S O.N.T. COTTON RUG YARN, 1½ balls of any color. Clark's O.N.T. Rug and Afghan Hook, size G. The above amount of materials is sufficient for 4 place mats, each about 12 x 17 inches; and a center mat, about 14 x 32 inches.
Place Mats
PLACE MATS (Make 4)... Starting at long side, ch 70 (to measure about 18 inches). 1st row: Tr in 4th ch from hook, tr in next ch, 2 tr in next ch, * skip 3 ch, 4 sc in next ch, ch 3, tr in same ch as sc, tr in next ch, 2 tr in next ch.
Repeat from * across, ending with 4 sc in last ch (11 shells made). Ch 3, turn. 2nd row: * Sc in next ch-3 of shell, ch 3, 4 tr in same ch-3. Repeat from * across, ending with 4 tr under turning ch (11 shells). Ch 3, turn. Repeat 2nd row until piece measures about 12 inches. Fasten off.
Center Mat
CENTER MAT... Starting at short side, ch 52 (to measure about 14 inches). Work as for Place Mats until piece is about 32 inches. Fasten off. Block to measurements given.
