Potholder

Row 1

With Pink, ch 35, sc in 2nd st from hook, 1 sc in each remaining st of ch, ch 1, turn.

Row 2

2nd Row—1 sc in each sc, ch 1, turn.

Row 3

3rd Row—1 sc in each sc, turn.

Row 4

4th Row—Ch 2 (always counts as 1st s dc), s dc in next st (s dc: thread over hook, insert in st, pull loop through, thread over and work off all loops at one time), post st over next st of 2nd row below (post st: thread over hook, insert hook horizontally under next st of 2nd row below, pull loop through, thread over and work off 2 loops, insert hook in back loop of sc in back of st just made, thread over, pull loop through, thread over and work off all loops at one time), post st in each of the next 5 sts of 2nd row below, * 1 s dc in each of the next 6 sts, 1 post st over each of the next 6 sts of 2nd row below, repeat from * once, 1 s dc in each of the next 2 sts, ch 1, turn (34 sts).

Row 5

5th Row—1 sc in each st, ch 2, turn.

Row 6

6th Row—S dc in next st, thread over, insert hook horizontally under 1st post st, pull loop through, thread over and work off 2 loops, skip the sc in back of st just made, insert hook in back loop of next sc, thread over, pull loop through, thread over and work off all loops at one time, * thread over, insert hook under next post st, pull loop through, thread over and work off 2 loops, insert hook in back loop of sc in back of st just made, thread over, pull loop through, thread over and work off all loops at one time (post st over post st), repeat from * 4 times, *1 s dc in each of the next 6 sts, 1 post st over each of the next 6 post sts, repeat from * once, 2 s dc in next st, ch 1, turn. Repeat last 2 rows once.

Row 9

9th Row—Same as 5th row.

Row 10

10th Row—1 s dc in each of the next 7 sts, * 1 post st over each of the next 6 sts of 2nd row below, 1 s dc in each of the next 6 sts, repeat from * once, 1 s dc in each of the next 2 sts, ch 1, turn.

Row 11

11th Row—1 sc in each st, ch 2, turn.

Row 12

12th Row—1 s dc in each of the next 7 sts, thread over, insert hook under 1st post st, thread over, pull loop through, thread over and work off 2 loops, skip the sc in back of st just made, insert hook in back loop of next st, thread over, pull loop through, thread over and work off all loops at one time, 1 post st over each of the next 5 post sts, 1 s dc in each of the next 6 sts, 1 post st over each of the next 6 post sts, 1 s dc in each remaining st working 2 s dc in last st, ch 1, turn.

Rows 13–14

13th Row—1 sc in each st, ch 2, turn. Repeat last 2 rows once. Repeat from the 4th through last row once. Repeat the 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th and 9th rows once, ch 1 to turn last row.

Edge

Next Row—1 sc in each st, do not turn. Work 33 sl sts down side of work, 34 sl sts across opposite side of starting ch, 33 sl sts up opposite side, join, cut thread.

Border Row 1

Next Row—Start border: attach Black in any corner st, ch 1, working in back loop of sts only, work 1 sc in each st working 3 sc in each corner st, join, cut thread.

Border Row 2

Next Row—With Pink work same as last row.

Border Row 3

Next Row—With Black, work same as last row.

Finishing

With Black cover a bone ring with sc and sew to potholder as illustrated.
