ATERIALS: Clark's O.N.T. or J. & P. Coats Pearl Cotton, size 5, 16 balls.

Milward's steel crochet hook No. 7.

Completed runner measures about 15" x 45",

Gauge: Motif measures 1% inches across sides.

MOTIF ...Ch 5, join with sl st.

Ist rnd: Ch 3 (to count as d c),2dcinring; *ch3(corner), 5dcinring. Repeat from * twice, ch 3,2 dcinring, slstintop of Ist ch-3.

2nd rnd: Ch 5, * make 3 trin corner ch-3, retaining on hook last loop of each tr; thread over and draw through allloops on hook, ch] tightly (cluster); ch 3 for corner, make another clusterinsamesp,ch4,scincenterdc of 5-dc group, ch 4. Repeat from *, joining last ch-4 to Ist ch of Ist ch-5. Fasten off. This completes first motif.

SECOND MOTIF ... Work Ist rnd as for previous motif.

2nd rnd: Ch5, cluster in corner ch-3, ch 1, drop loop from hook and insert hook in corresponding sp between 2 clusters of previous motif, draw loop through; ch 2, another cluster in same sp on motif in work, ch4,scin center dc of 5-dc group, ch 4, cluster in next corner, ch, join as before to corresponding corner of previous motif (ch 2, after joining); clusterin same sp on motif in work. Complete rnd as for previous motif (no more joinings).

Work 10 x 29 motifs, joining at all corresponding corners.
