Circle
The method for making a circle is similar in all cases. The difference in appearance is due to the kind of stitch used.
To make a perfectly plain circle as for the center of a doily or the beginning of a beret, ch 5, join in ring with sl st.
Ch 3 (count as 1 dc), 11 dc under ring. Join to ch with sl st.
Ch 3, 1 dc after each dc of 1st round, with ch-1 between, ch 1, 1 dc in same space with ch-3, ch 1, sl st in 2nd of ch-3, sl st to next sp.
Ch 3 (count as dc), 2 dc in each sp with ch-1 after each dc, ch 1, sl st in 2nd of ch-3. Sl st to next sp.
Ch 3, 1 dc in same sp, ch 1, 1 dc in next sp, ch 1, 2 dc in next sp with ch-1 between, and so on around, alternating with 1 dc and 2 dc in succeeding sps. Join with sl st as before.
The gradual and uniform increase in each row prevents cupping and the circle can be made as large as desired.
