Coasters Pattern #4037
Pearl cotton coasters worked in alternating white and blue rounds with a double edging sized to fit a glass bottom.
Materials
- Steel Crochet Hook · No. 6
Pattern instructions
Bottom
Starting at center with White, ch 4, 11 dc in 4th ch from hook. Sl st in top st of starting chain.
Drop White, attach Blue, ch 1, sc in same place as sl st, * 2 sc in next st, sc in next st. Repeat from * around. Join.
Drop Blue, pick up White, ch 3, dc in each st around, increasing 12 dc evenly around—to inc a dc, make 2 dc in 1 st.
Drop White, pick up Blue, ch 1, sc in each st around, increasing 6 sc evenly around.
Repeat the 3rd and 4th rnds alternately until piece measures about ½ inch larger all around than bottom of glass, ending with the 3rd rnd.
Edging
Drop White, pick up Blue, turn and make sc in back loop of each st around. Join.
Drop Blue, pick up White, sc in same place as sl st, * ch 5, 3 dc where last sc was made, skip 3 sc, sc in next sc. Repeat from * around. Join. Break off White.
Pick up Blue, * 5 sc in ch-5 loop, sc in next 3 dc. Repeat from * around. Join and break off.
Second Edging
Attach Blue and, working over free loops of last dc-rnd of Bottom, work a second edging as follows:
Sc in each st around, increasing 8 sc evenly around. Join.
Same as 2nd rnd of 1st edging, skipping 2 (instead of 3) sts. Join and break off.
Complete as for 1st edging.
