ATERIALS REQUIRED—Ame rican Thread Company "Star" or "Gem" Mercerized Crochet Cotton, Size 20. 1 300-yd. Ball of Dk. Cream. 1300-yd. Ball of Dk. Linen or Ecru. Steel Crochet Hook No. 11] or 12.
Arrangement
Each Motif measures about 3 inches, 24 Motifs are required for cover arranged as follows: lin the Ist row, 2 in the 2nd row, 3 in the 3rd row, 2 in the Ath row, repeat 3rd and 4th rows 3 times and finish with 1 Motif.
Join the Ist 4 motifs to form a square. This forms the Ist and 2nd rows and the center motif of the 3rd row, add 2 more motifs to the 3rd row and continue.
Motif
With Dk. Linen Ch 8, join to form aring, ch 5, dcinring, * ch 2, dcinring, repeat from * 5 times, ch 2, joinin 3rd st of ch5.
2nd Row—SI st to mesh, ch 3,2 dcinsame mesh,* ch 2, 3 dcinnext mesh, repeat from * 6 times, ch 2, join, break thread.
3rd Row—Join Cream in center dc of one group, * Ché6,s cincenter dc of next group, repeat from * all around.
4th Row—Slst overloop, ch 3,2 dc oversame loop, ch 3, 3dcoversame loop, *3dcovernextloop,ch3,3dc over same loop, repeat from * all around.
5th Row—* Ch3,3dc,ch3,3dcincenter of shell, ch3,s c between next 2 groups of dc, repeat from * all around, break thread.
6th Row—Attach Dk. Linenin center of shell, * Ch5,dcin nextsc,ch5,3scincenter of next shell, repeat from * all around.
7th Row—Slst overloop, ch 3,2dcinsame loop, * ch5, 3 dcinnext loop, repeat from * all around, break thread.

To join Motifs at shells, work 3dcinloop, ch2,slstinch4 of Ist Motif, ch 2, complete shell of second Motif, join in 2
