Body

1st row

Starting at one side, make a chain 1 yd. long, turn. 1st row: Yarn over, insert hook in 3rd ch from hook, yarn over and draw loop through, yarn over, insert hook in same ch, yarn over and draw loop through; yarn over, skip 1 ch, insert hook in next ch, yarn over and draw loop through, yarn over and draw through all 7 loops on hook, ch 1 (thus a group is made). Yarn over, insert hook in same ch where last loop was drawn through, yarn over and draw loop through. Repeat from * once. Yarn over, skip 1 ch, insert hook in next ch and draw another loop through. Draw through all 7 loops on hook, ch 1. Continue in this manner across until row measures 28 inches. Cut off remaining chain. Ch 2, turn (3 ch's in all).

2nd row

2nd row: Yarn over, insert hook in 3rd ch from hook, yarn over, draw loop through, yarn over, insert hook in same place, yarn over and draw loop through, yarn over, insert hook in next ch-1, yarn over and draw loop through; yarn over and draw through all 7 loops on hook, ch 1. Yarn over, insert hook in same place where last loop was drawn through, draw loop through. Repeat from ** once, yarn over, insert hook in next ch-1, yarn over and draw loop through, yarn over and draw through all 7 loops on hook, ch 1. Repeat from ** across. Ch 2, turn.

Edging. Work shells all around edges of cover in following manner: Sc in 1st ch-1, skip 2 sts, 7 tr in next ch-1, skip 2 sts, sc in next st, skip 2 sts, 5 dc in next st, skip 2 sts, sc in next st. Repeat from * all around edges, skipping 2 sts and occasionally 1 st, as necessary, to keep work flat. Break off.
