Jar Holder

1st Round

Starting at bottom of holder, with a single strand of Double Quick or a double strand of Bedspread Cotton ch 4, join with a sl st in first st of chain to form a ring, ch 1, work 12 sc into ring, join with a sl st in first sc.

2nd Round

Do not turn in this or following rounds, ch 1, 2 sc in same st as last sl st and in each sc around, join with a sl st in first sc. There are 24 sc in last round.

3rd Round

Ch 1, 1 sc in same st as last sl st, 1 sc in each of next 2 sc, * 2 sc in next sc, 1 sc in each of next 3 sc; repeat from * around, end with 2 sc in last sc, join with a sl st in first sc. There are 30 sc in last round.

4th and 5th Rounds

Ch 1, 1 sc in same st as last sl st, 1 sc in each sc around, join with a sl st in first sc.

6th Round

Ch 3, 1 dc in same st as last sl st, * ch 3, skip next 2 sts, 2 dc in next st; repeat from * around, end with ch 3, skip last 2 sts, join with a sl st in top st of ch 3 at beginning of round. There are 10 (2-dc groups - counting ch 3 at beginning of round as 1 dc) with ch 3 between groups in last round.

7th and 8th Rounds

Ch 1, 1 sc in same st as last sl st, ch 50, skip next 23 sc of last round of holder, 1 sc in each of next 2 sc, turn, with right side of chain facing, work 1 sc in each st of chain, 1 sc in next sc of holder; break off.

6th Round

Do not turn, ch 1, work a rib sc around same st as last sl st as follows: (insert hook from front to back, around st to front again, thread over and pull loop through, thread over and through 2 loops on hook), work a rib sc around each sc, join with a sl st in first sc; break off leaving a length for sewing.

Fill bottom slightly with polyester filling or any desired filling. Thread length of cotton into a darning needle and sew to 5th round of Holder as Illustrated.
