Fleisher's or Bear Brand Glow-Knit, Color "A", 8 (2 oz.) skeins; Color "B", 3 (2 oz.) skeins. Bucilla Plastic Crochet Hook, Size 10. GAUGE: 5 shells = 8 inches; 22 rows = 6 inches.

Stole

Foundation

With B, ch 271 sts loosely; do not break yarn: fasten off by loosening last loop and passing ball through loop, tighten loop; drop B.

Row 1

Row 1—With loop of A on hook, working in horizontal loop in back of ch st, 1 sc in last st of ch, * skip 2 sts, 1 shell of 5 dc in back of next st, skip 2 sts, 1 sc in back of next st; repeat from * to end; fasten off as before; drop A.

Row 2

Row 2—With B, working from same side as last row, 1 sc in first sc, * ch 1, skip 1 dc, 1 sc in next dc, ch 1, skip 1 dc, 1 sc in next dc, ch 1, skip 1 dc, work along sc, inserting hook in same st with sc on foundation ch, working over sc of previous row; repeat from *, working off last 2 loops of last sc with A; drop B.

Row 3

Row 3—With A, ch 3, turn, 2 dc in first sc, * skip 1 ch st and 1 sc, 1 sc under next ch 1, skip 1 sc and 1 ch st, 1 shell of 5 dc in next long sc; repeat from *, end last repeat with 3 dc in last sc; fasten off as before.

Row 4—With B, working from same side as last row, 1 sc in top of turning ch, * 1 sc in next dc, ch 1, skip 1 dc, 1 long sc over next sc in ch 1 space on last B row, working over next sc of previous row, ch 1, skip 1 dc, 1 sc in next dc, ch 1, skip 1 dc; repeat from * to within 1 dc of end, 1 sc in last dc, working off last 2 loops with A. Drop B.

Row 5

Row 5—With A, ch 1, turn, 1 sc in first sc, * skip 1 sc and 1 ch st, 1 shell in next long sc, skip 1 ch st and 1 sc, 1 sc under next ch 1; repeat from *, end last repeat 1 sc in last sc; fasten off as before.

Row 6

Row 6—Work as for row 2, working long sc over sc in same space in last B row.

Repeat Rows 3–6

Repeat last 4 rows until there are 31 shell rows in all, end with B row, working off last 2 loops of last sc with A. Break off B. Do not turn.

Fasten off. Work fringe on other short side in same way.

Block to 70 ins. by 22 ins. This stole is blocked 3 ins. wider than approximate measurement given.
