Coats Mercerized Crochet, 30 balls for curtains; 5 balls for runner. J, & P. Coats Big Ball Best Six Cord Mercerized Crochet, 18 balls for curtains; 3 balls for runner. Milward's steel crochet hook No. 10.

The amount of material soecified for curtains is sufficient for one pair, each curtain about 36 x 72 inches.
Starting at onelong side, make a chain about 3 yds. long (10 chsts to the inch). Ist row: Dcin 4thch from hook, dc ineach ch until row measures about 78 inches (number of dc should be divisible by 26, plus 4—counting turning ch as 1dc). Cut off remaining chain. Ch 3, turn.
2nd row: Dc ineach of next 3dc,* ch 22, skip 22 dc, dcineach of next 4dc. Repeat from * across. Ch 3, turn.
3rd and 4th rows: Dcineachof 3dc,*ch22,dcineachofnext4dc. Repeat from * across. Ch 3, turn.
5th row: Dcin each of 3 dc,*chll,scoverthe 3 rows of ch-22, chl1l,dcineach of next 4dc. Repeat from * across. Ch 3, turn.
6th row: D cineachof3dc,*ch22,dcineach of next 4dc. Repeat from* across. Ch 3, turn.
7th row: Dcineachdc andin each chacross. Ch 3, turn.

13th row: Dcineachdc andineachch across. Ch 3, turn.
The last 12 rows (2nd to 13th rows incl.) constitute the pattern. Repeat these 12 rows until piece measures 36 inches, taking care to complete the last pattern. Fasten and break off. Make another curtain same as this.
Starch curtains and stretch to measurements on curtain stretcher.
Runner
RUNNER No. 7170-B
When completed, runner measures about 162 x 45 inches.
Starting at one long side, make a chain about 2 yds. long (10 chsts to the inch). Ist row: Dcin 4thch from hook, dc in each chacross until row measures 45 inches. Cut off remaining chain. Ch 3, turn.
Now work as for Curtains 7170-A from 2nd to 13th rows incl. for 16 inches, taking care to complete the last pattern. Fasten and break off.
