Intermediate Hook No. 5 Collar and Cuff Set

A vintage Eton collar and matching cuffs in shell stitch, worked in size 10 mercerized crochet with glass button fastenings.

Materials

  • Milward's steel crochet hook · No. 5
  • Milward's steel crochet hook · No. 1

Pattern instructions

Collar

Foundation

With No. 5 hook, ch 129, turn.

1st row

Dc in 4th ch from hook, dc in each st of ch, making 6 increases at equal intervals. (To make an increase, work 2 dc in 1 st). Ch 3, turn.

2nd to 8th rows incl

Dc in each dc, with 6 increases to each row, divided equally but not placed one over another. Ch 3, turn.

9th row

Change to No. 1 hook. Skip 2 sts, * 4 dc in next, ch 1, 4 dc in same place, skip 5 sts and repeat from * to end of row. Turn. (These are shell sts).

10th and 11th rows

Work shell over shell.

Cuffs

Foundation

With No. 5 hook, ch 55, turn.

Following

Work same as collar, making only 2 increases to each dc row for 8 rows, then make 3 rows of shell sts.

Finishing

Sew up cuffs, leaving opening at wrist. Sew on buttons, then make ch loops worked over with sc's for buttonholes. Sew buttons on collar as in illustration, making ch loops worked with sc as for cuffs.

Sizing

Note

To make set larger, add sts to foundation ch for desired size.
