This stole can be made with any of the following: "DAWN" or "CLOVER LEAF" NYLON or "DAWN" or "CLOVER LEAF" NYLON POMPADOUR or "DAWN" DACRON FINGERING YARN or "DAWN" BRAEBURN SPORT YARN 6 ozs. Pink or color desired. Afghan crochet hook size F. Plastic crochet hook No. 3.

GAUGE: 5 sts = 1 inch. 4 rows = 1 inch.

Body

Starting Row

Starting at narrow end, with afghan hook ch 2, draw up ½ inch loop on hook, draw up a 1½ inch loop in 2nd st from hook (2 loops on hook), work back by drawing yarn through 1st loop, yarn over and draw through 2 loops, ch 1.

2nd Row

2nd Row. Draw up 1½ inch loop on hook, draw up a 1½ inch loop in space between 1st and 2nd loop of previous row, draw up a loop in back loop of last loop (3 loops on hook), work back by drawing through 1st loop, * yarn over and draw through 2 loops, repeat from * once, ch 2.

3rd Row

3rd Row. Draw up ½ inch loop on hook, draw up a 1½ inch loop in 2nd st from hook, * draw up a loop in space between next 2 loops, repeat from * once (4 loops on hook), work back by drawing yarn through 1st loop, * yarn over and draw through 2 loops, repeat from * twice, ch 1.

4th Row

4th Row. Draw up ½ inch loop on hook, draw up a 1½ inch loop in each space between loops of previous row, draw up a loop in back of last loop (leave all loops on hook), work back by drawing yarn through 1st loop, * yarn over and draw through 2 loops, repeat from * to end of row, ch 2.

5th Row

5th Row. Draw up ½ inch loop on hook, draw up a 1½ inch loop in 2nd st from hook and in each space between loops, work back same as 4th row, ch 1.

Repeat 4th and 5th rows

Repeat 4th and 5th rows having 1 more loop on hook each row until there are 105 loops on hook. Work last row back in same manner, ch 1.

Decrease

Start to decrease

Start to decrease as follows:

1st Row

1st Row. Draw up 1½ inch loop on hook, draw up a 1½ inch loop in space between 2nd and 3rd loop and in each space between loops, work back by drawing yarn through 1st loop, * yarn over and draw through 2 loops, repeat from * until 2 loops remain on hook, yarn over and pull through all loops, ch 1.

2nd Row

2nd Row. Draw up ½ inch loop on hook, draw up a loop between 3rd and 4th loop, in each space between loops and in back loop of last loop, work back same as previous row, ch.

Repeat last 2 rows

Repeat the last 2 rows having 1 loop less in each row until all loops are worked, cut yarn.

EDGE: With right side of work toward you, attach yarn in upper left corner and work a row of sl sts all around, join.

2nd Row

2nd Row. Work 1 sc in each sl st, working 3 sc in each corner st, join.

3rd Row

3rd Row. * 1 sc in next sc, ch 1, skip next sc, repeat from * across the 2 shaped sides working 1 sc, ch 1 and 1 sc at lower point, 1 sc in each sc along the straight side, join, cut yarn.

Fringe

FRINGE

FRINGE: Wind yarn over a 6 inch cardboard, cut one end. Using 8 strands, double in half and loop through 1st ch 1 loop at shaped side, draw ends through tightly, work a fringe in every other ch 1 loop on each of the two shaped sides. * Take half of one group of fringe and half of next group of fringe, knot together 1 inch down from 1st row of knots, repeat from * across fringe.
