ATERIALS ... Choose one of the following threads insize 50: Clark's O.N.T. Mercerized Crochet. 10 balls of White or Ecru for Runner, 7 balls for Chair Set, 10 balls for Davenport Set; 14 balls of any color for Runner, 10 balls for Chair Set, 14 balls for Davenport Set. J.& P. Coats Mercerized Crochet, 7 balls of White or Ecru for Runner, 5 balls for Chair Set, 7 balls for Davenport Set; 10 balls of any color for Runner, 7 balls for Chair Set, 10 balls for Davenport Set, J. & P. Coats Big Ball Best Six Cord Mercerized Crochet, 4 balls of White or Ecru for Runner, 3 balls for Chair Set, 4 balls for Davenport Set. Milward's steel crochet hook No. 12 or 13.

GAUGE: 7 sps make linch; 7 rows make linch.

RUNNER No. 7167-A

When completed, runner measures about 15 x 50 inches.

Starting at short end, make a chain about 20 inches long. Ist row: Dcin 4th ch from hook, dcineachch across until 313 dc are made, counting turning chas1dc. Cut off remaining chain. Ch 3 (always to count as Ist dc of next row), turn.

2nd row: Dcineachof next 3dc(1bl made), *ch2, skip 2dc,dcinnext dc(lsp). Repeat from * across to within last 3dc(1lO2 sps), dcineachof last 3d c (another bl). Ch 3, turn.

3rd row: 1bl, 102 sps, 1bl. Ch 3, turn.

4th row: 1bl,64sps,2dcinnextsp,dcinnextdc (bl); 2 more bls, 5sps, 3 bls, 4sps, 2 bls, 3sps, 3 bls, 15 sps, | bl. Ch 3, turn.

Hereafter follow chart, beginning with 5th row, until design is completed. Piece should now measure about 12 inches. Then repeat 3rd row for 26 inches, ending at tree edge. To work pattern on other end, reverse design by working back from top row of design to Ist row, but starting design at opposite edge from tree (so that camel procession faces opposite direction). Fasten and break off.

CHAIR SET No. 7167-B

When completed, chair back measures about 12% x 16 inches, and each arm piece about 9 x 12 inches.

CHAIR RACK ... Starting at bottom, make a chain about 21 inches long. Ist row: Dcin 4th ch from hook, dc ineach ch across until 337 dc are made, counting turning chas 1 dc. Cut off remaining chain. Ch 3 (always to count as Ist d c of next row), turn.

2nd row: Dcineachof next3dc(lbl made), * ch 2, skip 2dc,dcinnextdc(lsp). Repeat from * across to within last 3dc(1lO sps), dc in each of last 3d c (another bl). Ch 3, turn.

3rd row: 1bl, 110 sps, 1bl. Ch 3, turn.

4th row: 1bl, 68sps,2dcinnextsp,dcinnextdc (bl); 2 more bls, 5sps, 3 bls, 4sps, 2 bls, 3 sps, 3 bls, 19 sps, 1 bl. Ch 3, turn.

Hereafter follow chart of Runner 7167- A, but have 4 more sps (than on Runner) at beginning and end of each row of chair back. After designis completed, repeat 3rd row twice, then work a row of bls. Fasten and break off.

ARM PIECES (Make 2)... Starting at bottom, make a chain about 12 inches long. Ist row: Dcin 4th ch from hook, dcineach ch across until 190 dc are made. Cut off remaining chain. Ch 3, turn.

Hereafter follow chart for arm piece to top row incl. Fasten and break off.

DAVENPORT SET No. 7167-C

When completed, davenport back measures about 12% x 30 inches, and each arm piece about 9 x 12 inches.

BACK... Starting at bottom, make a chain about 38 inches long. Istrow: Dcin4thch from hook, dcineachch across until 631 dc are made, counting turning chas1dc. Cut off remaining chain. Ch 3 (always to count as Ist dc of next row), turn.

2nd row: Dcineach of next 3 dc (1bl made), *ch2, skip 2dc,dcinnextdc(lsp). Repeat from * across to within last 3dc,dcineach of last3dc.Ch3, turn.

3rd row: 1bI, 208 sps, 1bl.

4th row: 1 bl, 64sps,2dc innext sp, dcinnextdc(l1bl);2 more bls, 5sps, 3 bls, 4 sps, 2bls, 3sps, 3 bls, 83sps, 3 bls, 5sps, 3 bls, 4sps, 2 bls, 3sps, 3 bls, 15 sps, 1 bl (This begins 2 groups of design, separated by 8 sps—see illustration.)

Hereafter follow chart, beginning with 5th row (omitting d c-bar at center and continuing with 2 groups), until designis completed. Then repeat 3rd row twice, and work 1 row of bls. Fasten and break off.

ARM PIECES (Make 2) ...Work exactly as for arm pieces of Chair Set 7167-B.
