Lady's poncho/skirt and man's poncho in Patons Totem, Double Knit, or Baroness Bri-Nylon with striped treble panels, neckband, lower edging, and optional fringe. Length from shoulder top (excluding fringe and neckband) A: 21 ins., B: 24 ins.

Poncho Skirt
PONCHO/SKIRT (2 pieces) Using No. 8 Hook and M., make 97 [B 110] chain.
1st row—Miss 3 ch., 1 tr. in each ch. to end. (95 [B 108] sts., counting turning ch. as one st.)
2nd row—(1 d.c., 1 ch.) in first tr., "Dec.", 1 tr. in each tr. to turning ch., 2 tr. in top of turning ch.
3rd row—(1 d.c., 1 ch., 1 tr.) in first tr., 1 tr. in each tr. to last 2 tr. and turning ch., "Dec.", 1 tr. in top of turning ch. Break off M.
Rep. 2nd and 3rd rows, working in stripes of 3 rows C.1, 2 rows C.2, 2 rows C.1, 1 row M., 1 row C.3, 2 rows C.1, 3 rows M., 2 rows C.2, until side edge measures 21 [B 24] ins.
Keeping continuity of stripes, proceed as follows— 1st row—(1 d.c., 1 ch.) in first tr., "Dec.", 1 tr. in each tr. to last 2 tr. and turning ch., "Dec.", 1 tr. in top of turning ch.
Rep. 1st row until 5 [B 6] sts. remain.
Next row—(1 d.c., 1 ch.) in first tr., "Dec." twice, [B only—1 tr. in top of turning ch.]
Next row—(1 d.c., 1 ch.) in first tr., "Dec.", [B only—1 tr. in top of turning ch.] Fasten off.
Neckband
NECKBAND Using a flat seam, sew foundation ch. of one piece to shorter dec. edge of other piece. Sew up other seam in same manner.
With right side facing and using 4M/M (No. 8) Hook and M., work 20 rounds d.c. evenly around neck, missing 2 d.c. at each corner in every round.
Lower Edging
LOWER EDGING With right side facing, using 4 M/M (No. 8) Hook and M., work 8 rounds d.c. around lower edge, working 3 d.c. in 1 d.c. at corners in every round.
Fringe
FRINGE (if desired) Wind yarn round a piece of cardboard 5 ins. wide and cut along one side. Wrong side facing, using 5 M/M (No. 6) Hook and 4 strands of yarn, fold yarn in half and draw loop through a st. at lower edge, pull ends through loop and tighten. Rep. around lower edge in every 2nd st.
