Lover's Knot Long Sleeve Pullover Pattern

SIZES: Small, Medium, Large Materials Required: AMERICAN THREAD COMPANY "AUNT LYDIA'S" HEAVY RUG YARN 7 (8, 9)—70 yd. skeins Moss 2 (2, 3)—70 yd. skeins each Pink, Lt. Rose and Old Rose Plastic Crochet Hook Size H OR ANY SIZE HOOK WHICH WILL RESULT IN STITCH GAUGE BELOW GAUGE: 3 sc = 1 inch Directions are given for small size (34). Changes for medium (36) and large (38) are given in parentheses.

BODY SECTION: With Moss ch 112 (120, 128), join in 1st st of ch, ch 1, turn.

1st ROUND: Working in loop on wrong side of ch, 1 sc in each st of ch, join in 1st sc, ch 1, turn.

2nd ROUND: 1 sc in each sc (112, 120, 128 sc), join, cut yarn.

3rd ROUND: Start double knot stitch: attach Pink to 1st sc, * draw up a 2 inch loop on hook, Y O and pull through loop, sc in single loop of st (single knot st), draw another 2 inch loop on hook, Y O and pull through loop, sc in single loop of st (double knot st), skip 3 sc, sc in next sc, repeat from * all around, join, ch 1, turn.

4th ROUND: Sl st to sc at center of double knot st, * work a double knot st, sc in sc at center of next double knot st, repeat from * all around, join, cut yarn, turn.

5th ROUND: Attach Moss in sc at center of last double knot st, * ch 3, sc in sc at center of next double knot st, repeat from * all around, join, ch 1, turn.

6th ROUND: 3 sc in each ch 3 loop, 1 sc in each sc, join in 1st sc, ch 1, turn.

7th ROUND: Sc in each sc, join in 1st sc, cut yarn.

8th and 9TH ROUNDS: Attach Lt. Rose to 1st sc, work 2 rounds of double knot st in same manner as 3rd and 4th rounds.

Repeat from the 5th round working in following color stripes: Moss, Old Rose, Moss. Continue color stripes as established until work measures 14 inches or desired length to underarm ending with 3rd row of Moss.

NEXT ROW: Divide work for FRONT and BACK.

BACK: Attach next color in 8th sc from beg over center of previous double knot st, work 10 (11, 12) double knot sts, turn.

Work 2 single knot sts, sc in sc at center of next double knot st, work across row ending with 2 single Knot sts, sc in beg of previous row, cut yarn, turn.

NEXT ROW: Attach Moss in sc at center of 1st double knot st, * ch 3, sc in sc at center of next double knot st, repeat from * across row ending with sc in sc at center of last double knot st, ch 1, turn.

NEXT ROW: 3 sc in each ch 3 loop, 1 sc in each sc, ch 1, turn.

NEXT ROW: Sc in each sc, cut yarn.

Repeat last 5 rows in established colors 2 (3, 3) times.

FRONT: Attach corresponding color in 16th sc from last sc worked and work 10 (11, 12) double knot sts. Continue in same manner as back until 2nd (3rd, 3rd) Moss stripe is completed.

SHAPE SHOULDERS AND NECKLINE. NEXT ROW: Attach corresponding color in 1st sc, work 2 double knot sts, turn.

NEXT ROW: Work 3 double knot sts, sc in beg of previous row, cut yarn, turn.

Attach same color in 24th (28th, 32nd) sc from last sc worked, work 2 double knot sts, turn.

NEXT ROW: Work 3 double knot sts, sc in beg of previous row, cut yarn, turn.

NEXT ROW: Attach Moss in sc at center of 1st double knot st, work in same manner as previous Moss stripe. Complete other shoulder.

NEXT ROW: Attach corresponding color in 1st sc, work 2 double knot sts, turn.

NEXT ROW: * Draw up a 2 inch loop on hook, Y O and pull through loop, drop loop, insert hook in 9th sc from left armhole edge on back, pull dropped st through sc, sc in single loop of st, single knot st, Sc in sc at center of next double knot st, skip 3 sc, repeat from * 3 times ending last repeat with sc in beg of previous row. Work other side to correspond.

SLEEVES: Starting at armhole edge and with Moss ch 50 (58, 58), working in loop on wrong side of ch, sc in 2nd st and in each remaining st of ch, ch 1, turn.

2nd ROW: 1 sc in each sc, cut yarn.

3rd ROW: Attach same color as 1st armhole stripe in 1st sc, work double knot sts across row in same manner as Body section, turn.

4th ROW: Work in double knot sts, turn.

NEXT ROW: Attach Moss in sc at center of 1st double knot st, * ch 3, sc at center of next double knot st, * ch 3, sc in next sc at center of next double knot st, repeat from * across row, join in 1st st, ch 1, turn.

NEXT ROW: * 3 sc in next ch 3 loop, sc in next sc, repeat from * all around, join in 1st sc in ch 3 loop; there are 48 (56, 56) sc, ch 1, turn.

NEXT ROW: Sc in each sc, join in 1st sc, cut yarn.

NEXT 2 ROWS: With next corresponding color below armhole, work in double knot st, turn.

NEXT ROW: Attach Moss in sc at center of last double knot st, ch 2, * sc in sc at center of next double knot st, ch 3, repeat from * ending with ch 2, join in 1st st, ch 1, turn.

NEXT ROW: 2 sc in each ch 2 loop, 1 sc in each sc, 3 sc in each ch 3 loop, join, ch 1, turn.

NEXT ROUND: Dec 1 sc in beg and end of round (to dec: insert hook in st, pull through, insert hook in next st, pull through, yarn over and pull through all loops at one time), 1 sc in each sc, join, cut yarn.

NEXT STRIPE: Attach next matching color below armhole in 3rd sc from beg (under sleeve) and work 2 rounds of double knot sts in same manner (1 less double knot st than previous round), turn.

NEXT MOSS STRIPE: Attach Moss in sc at center of last double knot st, work in same manner as 5th round of body section ending with ch 1, join in 1st st, ch 1, turn.

NEXT ROUND: 1 sc in ch 1 loop, 1 sc in each sc, 3 sc in each ch 3 loop, join in 1st sc, ch 1, turn.

NEXT ROUND: 1 sc in each sc to within last 4 sc, dec 1 st twice, join in 1st sc, cut yarn.

NEXT STRIPE: Attach next matching color below armhole in 1st sc, work 2 rounds of double knot sts in same manner (1 less double knot st), turn.

NEXT MOSS STRIPE: Attach Moss in sc at center of last double knot st and complete same as last Moss stripe.

NEXT COLOR STRIPE: Work in same manner as previous stripe. Work last 5 rounds in established colors, once for size 34, twice for sizes 36 and 38.

NEXT ROW: (all sizes). Attach Moss in sc at center of last double knot st, * ch 2, sc in center of next double knot st, repeat from * all around, join, turn.

NEXT ROUND: 2 sc in each ch 2 loop, 1 sc in each sc, join in 1st sc, ch 1, turn.

NEXT ROUND: Sc in each sc, join in 1st sc, cut yarn.

FINISHING: Sew sleeves in position.

SIDE NECKBAND: With right side of garment toward you, attach Moss in side neck edge, work 4 sc in double knot stitch row, 3 sc in Moss row, ch 1, turn.

NEXT ROW: 1 sc in each sc, ch 1, turn.

NEXT ROW: 1 sc in each sc, cut yarn.

Sew both ends to front and back neckline. Complete other side of neck edge. Steam lightly.
