MATERIAL-2 boxes Woolco Knitting Worsted. No. 4 Woolco hook.

Body

Starting chain

Chain 163.

1st to 5th rows

1ST TO 5TH ROWS-Single crochet, taking both loops.

6th row

6TH ROW-5 single crochet. *Chain 3, skip 3 stitches, single crochet in each of the next 15 stitches. * This forms buttonhole. Repeat between stars until there are 6 buttonholes. Finish row with single crochet.

7th row

7TH ROW-Single crochet, taking up chain stitches in previous row.

8th to 10th rows

8TH TO 10TH ROWS- Single crochet.

11th row

11TH ROW-Put hook through both loops, pull loop through, wrap yarn around hook, take off 1 loop, wrap and take off 2 loops. Repeat to end of row.

12th row

12TH ROW-Like 11th row, but taking the back loop only. These 2 rows form pattern.

13th row

13TH ROW-Like 11th row, using both loops. The ridged side is right side of work.

14th to 17th rows

14TH TO 17TH ROWS-Even.

18th row

18TH ROW-Leave off 13 stitches.

Decrease rows

On 21-25-29-33-37-41 rows decrease 1 stitch at beginning of row.

42nd row

42D ROW-Leave off 40 stitches.

43rd to 45th rows

43D TO 45TH ROWS-Decrease 1 stitch each row on armhole side.

46th to 54th rows

46TH TO 54TH ROWS-Even.

55th to 60th rows

55TH TO 60TH ROWS-Increase 1 stitch each row on armhole side. At end of 60th row chain 24.

61st row

61ST ROW-Even.

62nd to 80th rows

62D TO 80TH ROWS-Increase 1 stitch each row at shoulder. Make 13 rows even. This is center of back.

Other half

Reverse directions for other half of sweater, leaving out the buttonholes.

Sleeves

Starting chain

SLEEVES-Chain 7.

1st row

1ST ROW-Chain 11 at end of row.

2nd row

2D ROW-* Increase 1 stitch at end of row.

3rd row

3D ROW-Increase 1 stitch at beginning of row. Chain 11 stitches at end of row. *

Repeat

Repeat between *'s 3 times.

10th row

10TH ROW-Like 2d.

11th row

1ITH ROW-Increase 1 stitch at beginning of row; chain 19 stitches at end of row.

12th to 14th rows

12TH TO 14TH ROWS-Increase 1 stitch each row at top; keep bottom even.

15th to 30th rows

15TH TO 30TH ROWS-Increase 1 stitch every other row at top.

31st to 33rd rows

31ST TO 33D ROWS-Even. This is the center.

Other half

Reverse directions for other half.

Cuffs

Cuffs

CUFFS-Before sewing up sleeve make cuff. Holding right side of sleeve towards you, make 10 rows of pattern stitch and 6 rows of single crochet.

1st row

1ST ROW-46 stitches.

2nd row

2D ROW-Decrease 1 stitch at end of row.

3rd row

3D ROW-Decrease 1 stitch at beginning of row.

4th row

4TH ROW-Like 2d.

5TH ROW-Like 3d.

Decrease to 36th row

Decrease 1 stitch at beginning of every row on front. Keep armhole side even until the 36th row.

37th row

37TH ROW-Slip 2 stitches at beginning of row.

38th row

38TH ROW-Leave off 3 stitches at end of row.

39th row

39TH ROW-Slip 3 stitches at beginning of row.

40th row

40TH ROW-Leave off 3 stitches at end of row.

41st row

41ST ROW-Slip 3 stitches at beginning of row.

Back Yoke

BACK YOKE-Chain 68.

1st to 20th rows

1ST TO 20TH ROWS-Even.

21st to 38th rows

21ST TO 38TH ROWS-Decrease 1 stitch each end of every row.

STRAPS (make 4)-Chain 104. Made 8 rows even of pattern.

Belt

Belt

BELT-Chain 172. Make 8 rows of pattern. On the 5th row make 4 stitches, then chain 3. Skip 3 to make buttonhole.

Pockets

Pockets

POCKETS (make 2)-Chain 31. Make 26 rows even. Holding right side of work toward you, make 7 rows single crochet.

Finishing

Assembly

Place yokes to fit armhole and shoulder. Sew the extensions of the fronts together and then sew to back of neck. The extensions form collar and lapel and are turned back to edge of front yokes.

Strap placement

Place front straps under center of yoke. Place back straps under yoke 1½ inches from armhole.

Pocket placement

The pockets go between front and back straps 1 inch from bottom of sweater.
