Square cream potholder worked in dc rows with felt poinsettia applique and bone ring. Makes two crocheted pieces with padding and lining. Originally published in Spool Cotton #222, Pot Holders.

MATERIALS: J. & P. Coats Knit-Cro- Sheen, 1 ball of Cream... Steel Crochet Hook No. 7... Scraps of felt of a contrasting color... A bone ring.

Make a chain to measure about 7 inches. 1st row: Dc in 4th ch from hook and in each ch across. Ch 3, turn. 2nd row: Skip 1st dc, dc in each dc across, ending with dc in top st of turning chain. Ch 3, turn. Repeat 2nd row until piece is square. Break off. Make another piece same as this. Cut a poinsettia of the felt and sew in place on one side only. Sew on bone ring.

Padding

Padding

PADDING ... Cut flannel or cotton batting slightly smaller, and lining material slightly larger, than crocheted piece. Place padding between crocheted piece and lining. Turn under edges of lining and sew to edges of crocheted piece with neat over-and-over stitches. For pot holders consisting of 2 crocheted pieces, insert padding between crochet and sew up edges.
