Pattern instructions
Motif
With Yellow ch 25 to measure 6½ inches. Work in afghan st until piece is absolutely square (there should be 19 rows). Do not break off. Sc around outer edge.
Embroidery
Examine diagram for making cross sts over afghan st. Being sure to have starting chain at bottom of each square, with Black embroider 6 motifs following chart A and 7 motifs following chart B; with Red embroider 6 motifs following chart C and 6 motifs following chart D.
Following diagram, with Yellow, sew motifs neatly together.
Border
Attach Scarlet and sc closely around, making 3 sc in each corner. Join. Break off and fasten.
Attach Yellow and sc in each sc around, making 3 sc in each corner. Join. Break off and fasten.
With Black repeat 2nd rnd.
With Yellow repeat 2nd rnd. Do not break off. Turn.
Sl st in each sc around. Join. Break off and fasten. Block to measurements.
