Lace for Alb Pattern #9043

Lace measures 21 inches deep at deepest point. One pattern measures 14/2 inches wide.

Choose one of the following threads in White, size 50: Clark's O.N.T. Mercerized Crochet, 43 balls. J.& P. Coats Mercerized Crochet, 30 balls. J.& P. Coats Big Ball Best Six Cord Mercerized Crochet, 17 balls.

Starting at lower edge of point, ch 6.

1st row: Dcin4thch from hook, dcin each of next 2 ch. Ch 5, turn.

2nd row: Dcin 4thch from hook, dcinnextch,dcinnextdc(lbl);ch 2, skip 2d c, make a foundation d cin 3rd st of turning ch —to make a foundation dc, thread over, insert hook inst, thread over and draw loop through, thread over and draw through one loop, thus making a chain st; complete as for adc.Make 2 more foundation dc by inserting hook in ch-1of previous dc. Then make adc inthe usual way (1 bl increased at both sides). Ch 5, turn.

3rd row: Dcin 4thch from hook, dcinnextch, dcinnextdc,ch2, skip 2dc,d cinnextdc,ch2,dcinnextdc,ch2,skip2dc,a foundation dc innext dc (3 sps); make 2 more foundation dc,and1dcinthe usual way. Ch 5, turn.

Hereafter follow chart until the 18th row is completed; ch 159. Fasten off. Make 8 more points as before, joining the ch-159 with sl st to 3rd st of turning ch-3 on last row of previous point. Then join the chain of Ist point to 3rd st of turning chon last row of last point, thus forming a circle. Fasten off.

Hereafter work is done inrnds instead of rows.

1st rnd: Attach thread to 77th ch, counting to the right of Ist point made, ch 3 (to count as dc), dcin each of next 76ch,dcinnextdc,2sps, 4 bls, *2sps, 1bl. Repeat from *6more times, 2sps, 4 bls, 2sps,dcineach of next 81ch. Now repeat design on chart around. Joinlast dc with sl st to 3rd st of ch-3 first made (9 complete patterns).

2nd rnd: Ch5,* skip 2dc, dcinnextdc, ch2. Repeat from * until 27 sos are made, make 5 bls, ** 2 sps, 1 bl. Repeat from ** 7 more times, 4more bls, 28 sos. Now repeat design on chart around. Joinlast ch-2 with sl st to 3rd st of ch-5 first made.

Hereafter, starting with 3rd rnd, follow chart to top, always repeating design the necessary number of times.
