Spice Collar and Cuffs Pattern #2304

Collar Motifs (Make 2). Starting at center, ch 12. Join with sl st to form ring.

Ch 3 (to count as dc), 23 dc in ring. Join with sl st to 3rd st of ch-3 first made.

Ch 3, dc in same place as sl st, ch 2, 2 dc in same place (shell), * ch 2, skip 2 dc; in next dc make: 2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc (another shell). Repeat from * around, ending rnd with ch 1, sc in 3rd st of ch-3 first made.

* 9 dc under ch-2 of next shell, sc under ch-2 between shells. Repeat from * around. Join.

Sl st to 5th dc of 9-dc group, * ch 11, sc in 5th dc of next 9-dc group. Repeat from * around. Join last ch-11 with sc in same place as last sl st (8 loops).

In each ch-11 loop make: * ch 5, skip 2 ch, sc in next ch. Repeat from * 2 more times, ch 5, skip 2 ch, sc in sc (32 ch-5 loops in rnd).

Sl st to center of 1st ch-5 loop, * ch 5, sc in next loop. Repeat from * around.

Sl st to center of 1st loop of previous rnd, * 9 dc in next loop, sc in next loop. Repeat from * around. Fasten and break off.

Place a motif on each end of collar, as in illustration, and sew in place. Cut away linen underneath, and finish with a narrow hem.

Cords (Make 2). Measure off four 1¾ yd. lengths of thread, twist tightly, then double the twisted strands and give them a second twist in the opposite direction. Sew one cord to each end of collar at neck edge.

Crocheted Balls (Make 2). Starting at center, ch 2.

10 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Join with sl st.

2 sc in each sc around. Hereafter work sc in each sc around until piece measures ½ inch. Stuff ball with same material, then work off 2 sc as 1 sc all around. Break off.

Sew a ball to end of each cord. This completes collar.

Cuff Motifs (Make 2). Starting at center, ch 5. Join with sl st to form ring.

Ch 3 (to count as dc), 14 dc in ring. Join with sl st.

Repeat 2nd to 6th rnds incl. of collar motif, having 5 shells (instead of 8 shells) in 2nd rnd.

Same as 9th rnd of collar motif. Break off. Sew a motif on one end of each cuff (see illustration). Make 4 cords as before, cutting strands ¾ yd. long (instead of 1¾ yds.), and complete cuffs as for collar.
