Notes
Begin a square by first making a Circle; then establish 4 points at equal number of stitches apart. Increases are made at each point or corner as the rows are made. Practice making a square as follows:
Square
Ch 7, join with sl st in ring.
Ch 2 (count as 1 dc); 15 dc over ring, join with sl st, making 16 dc. This number must be divisible by 4 to produce a square.
Ch 4, 1 dc after each dc of 1st row, with ch-1 between. Ch 1, sl st in 3rd of ch-4.
Sl st to 1st sp, ch 3, 1 dc in same sp, ch 1, 2 dc in every sp with ch-1 after each dc, ch 1, sl st in 2nd of ch-3.
Sl st to next sp, ch 3, 1 dc in same sp (a corner), ch 1, 1 dc in each of next 7 sps, with ch-1 between, ch 1, 2 dc in next sp with ch-1 between (a corner). Make the other 2 sides and corners to match. Join with sl st in 2nd of ch-3.
Sl st to center of corner, ch 3, 2 dc in same corner sp with ch-1 between, ch 1, 1 dc in each sp up to next corner with ch-1 between, 3 dc in corner sp with ch-1 after each dc. Repeat around, making 4 sides and corners to match, ch 1, sl st in 2nd of ch-3. This square may be made as large as desired by increasing 1 dc in each corner of each row.
