Toy Puppy Pattern
Stuffed flat-piece crochet puppy with paw, body section, brown ears, eyes, nose, and embroidered mouth. Made in Aunt Lydia's Heavy Rug Yarn in Natural and Brown.
Materials
- Aluminum Crochet Hook · Size H OR ANY SIZE HOOK WHICH WILL RESULT IN STITCH GAUGE BELOW
Pattern instructions
Paw
PAW: With Natural ch 3, 2 sc in 2nd st from hook, 2 sc in next st of ch, ch 1 to turn all rows throughout all sections.
2nd ROW: 1 sc in each sc.
3rd ROW: Working in sc inc 1 sc at beg and end of row, cut yarn. Set aside.
Body Section
BODY SECTION: With Natural ch 3, 2 sc in 2nd st from hook, 2 sc in next sc.
2nd ROW: Working in sc inc 1 sc at beg of row.
3rd ROW: Inc 1 sc at beg and end of row.
Repeat 2nd and 3rd rows once.
6th ROW: Repeat 3rd row.
7th ROW: Inc 1 sc at end of row.
8th ROW: 1 sc in each sc, ch 9, work 1 sc in each sc of paw section.
NEXT ROW: 1 sc in each sc and in each st of ch.
10th ROW: 1 sc in each sc.
11th ROW: 1 sc in each sc.
12th ROW: Dec 1 sc at end of row (to dec: pull up a loop in each of 2 sts, yo and work off all loops at one time).
13th ROW: Dec 1 st at beg of row.
14th ROW: Dec 1 st at beg of row.
15th ROW: Inc 1 sc at beg of row.
16th ROW: Repeat 13th row—25 sc.
17th ROW: Repeat 12th row.
18th ROW: Skip 2 sts, 1 sc in each of next 3 sts, sl st in each of next 3 sc, 1 sc in each remaining st.
19th ROW: 1 sc in each of next 14 sc, dec 1 st, ch 1, turn.
20th ROW: Inc 1 sc at beg of row, and dec 1 sc at end of row.
21st ROW: 1 sc in each st.
Repeat last 2 rows once.
24th ROW: Repeat 20th row.
25th ROW: Dec 1 sc at beg of row.
26th ROW: Inc 1 sc at end of row, ch 3, turn.
27th ROW: 3 sc in 2nd st from hook, 1 sc in next st of ch and in each remaining st—19 sc.
28th ROW: Inc 1 sc at end of row.
29th ROW: 1 sc in each st.
30th ROW: Dec 1 sc, 1 sc in each of next 17 sc, sl st in next sc.
31st ROW: Skip sl st, sl st in next sc, 1 sc in each remaining sc.
32nd ROW: Dec 1 sc, 1 sc in each of next 15 sc, sl st in next st.
33rd ROW: Skip 1 st, 1 sc in each of next 16 sc.
34th ROW: 1 sc in each of next 13 sc, sl st in each of next 2 sc.
35th ROW: Skip 1 st, sl st in each of next 2 sc, cut yarn, skip next 3 sc, attach yarn in next sc, 1 sc in each of next 6 sc, sl st in each of next 2 sc.
36th ROW: 2 sc in 1st st, 1 sc in each of next 3 sts, dec in next 2 sts, ch 1, turn.
37th ROW: 1 sc in each st.
Repeat last 2 rows once.
40th ROW: 2 sc in 1st sc, 1 sc in each of next 2 sc, dec in next 2 sts, turn.
41st ROW: 1 sc in each sc.
Repeat last 2 rows 4 times, cut yarn.
Attach yarn in 1st st on opposite side of ch between 1st paw and body section, 1 sc in each of next 7 sts, sl st in next st, cut yarn. Work another section.
Ears
EARS: (Make 2). With Brown ch 5, 1 sc in 2nd st from hook and in each remaining st of ch, ch 1 to turn all rows.
2nd ROW: Working in sc inc 1 sc at beg and end of row.
3rd ROW: 1 sc in each sc.
4th ROW: Repeat 2nd row.
5th ROW: 1 sc in each sc.
6th ROW: 1 sc in each sc.
7th ROW: Repeat 2nd row.
8th ROW: 1 sc in each sc.
9th ROW: Dec 1 st at beg and end of row.
10th ROW: 1 sc in each st.
NEXT 2 ROWS: Repeat 9th row, cut yarn.
Eyes
EYES: With Brown ch 2, 4 sc in 2nd st from hook, join, cut yarn.
Nose
NOSE: Ch 4, cut yarn leaving a length.
Finishing
FINISHING: Sew 2 sections tog leaving an opening for filling. Fill with shredded foam rubber or kapok. Sew opening closed. Tack Eyes, Ears, and Nose in position. Embroider Mouth with 2 long sts. Trim as illustrated.
