Windmill Afghan Pattern #B-245

Squares are crocheted in afghan stitch then a border of single crochet and double treble crochet is worked around, using the bars of the afghan stitch as a base.

Starting with Yellow ch 13. Work in afghan st for 11 rows. Break off and fasten.

Attach Mid Orange to 2nd vertical bar of last row, sc in same place and in next 4 vertical bars, yarn over hook 3 times loosely, insert hook under vertical bar 3 rows below next st and complete a dtr, skip vertical bar of next st behind the dtr just made, sc in vertical bar of next 5 sts, ch 1, (inserting hook under vertical bar and loop in back of next end st make sc) 5 times, dtr in vertical bar in 5th st in from edge of next end st, skip next end st, sc in next 5 end sts as before, ch 1, working across starting chain, sc in next 5 ch, dtr in vertical bar on 4th row over next ch, skip next ch, sc in next 5 ch, ch 1, work along end sts of next side as for other side ending with ch 1. Join with sl st to first sc. Break off and fasten.

Attach Tile to first ch-1 sp, * in sp make sc, ch 2 and sc, sc in next 4 sc, dtr in vertical bar under next st, 1 row higher than next dtr, sc in next dtr, dtr in vertical bar under next st on same row as last dtr, sc in next 4 sc. Repeat from * around. Join. Break off and fasten.

With Taupe work as for 2nd rnd, making 2 sc more between the 2 dtr's on each side of motif.

With Brown work as for 3rd rnd.

Sew 9 x 13 motifs neatly together.

With Brown and picking up back loop only, sc in each st around, making 3 sc in each corner sp.

Repeat first round, making 3 sc in each corner st. Join. Break off and fasten. Block to measurements.
