Rectangular crochet bag with sc bottom and side worked in rounds, popcorn-style trimming rows, felt lining with cardboard base, folded top with buttons and ch loops, and sc-covered handles. Originally published in Bags, Book 228.

Materials
MATERIALS: CHADWICK'S RED HEART KNITTING WORSTED, 5 balls (1 oz. balls) of Yellow... Bone Crochet Hook No. 5... ½ yard of felt... 2 handles... 2 small buttons. GAUGE: Side: 4½ sc make 1 inch; 4 rows make 1 inch.
Bottom
BOTTOM ... Chain 45 to measure 8½ inches.
Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. Ch 1, turn.
Sc in each sc across. Ch 1, turn.
Side
SIDE ... Make sc in each sc around all edges of Bottom.
Sc in back loop of each sc around. Sl st in 1st sc.
Repeat the 2nd rnd until Side measures 7 inches. Break off.
Trimming
TRIMMING ... With top of bag facing, attach yarn to 1st free loop on the 4th rnd of Side (counting from the Bottom), * ch 5, (yarn over hook, insert hook in 4th ch from hook and draw loop through) 3 times; yarn over hook and draw through all loops on hook; sl st in next ch, sc in free loop of next 3 sc. Repeat from * around. Join and break off.
Work 3 more rows of Trimming, spacing Trimming 4 rows apart.
Button
BUTTON (Make 2) ... 1st rnd: Ch 2, 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook.
Sc in each sc around. Break off.
Finishing
Line bag with felt, inserting a cardboard at bottom.
Fold Sides in at top, leaving 5 inches free at center of each Side.
Insert buttons in crocheted pieces and sew at each end of one side at top. Make two ch-9 loops opposite Buttons.
Cover three-quarters of each handle closely with sc. Sew handles in place.
