Bath Mat & Scrap Basket Cover Pattern

To start, ch 152 for Mat and ch 164 for Scrap Basket.

1st row: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. Ch 1, turn.

2nd row: Sc in each sc across. Ch 1, turn.

3rd row: * Sc in next 3 sc, thread over, insert hook in next sc 2 rows below, draw loop through and up to height of row in work, (thread over, insert hook in same sc 2 rows below, draw loop through and up to height of row in work) 3 times; thread over and draw through all loops on hook (puff st made). Repeat from * across. Ch 1, turn.

4th row: Sc in each st across. Ch 1, turn.

5th row: Sc in first sc, * make a puff st in next sc 2 rows below, sc in next 3 sc. Repeat from * across. Ch 1, turn.

6th row: Sc in each st across. Ch 1, turn.

Repeat 3rd to 6th rows incl until piece measures 34 inches for Mat, or is long enough to cover depth for Basket, ending with 4th row.

For Scrap Basket: Sew narrow ends together and sl st closely around top and bottom.

Border for Mat: 1st rnd: Sc closely around, making 3 sc in each corner.

2nd to 5th rnds incl: Sc in each sc around, making 3 sc in center sc at each corner. Join. Break off at end of 5th rnd. Block to measurements.
