Rub-a-Dub-Dub Soap Pouch Pattern #9100-B

Starting at outer edge, ch 42.

1st row: Tr in 10th ch from hook, * ch 5, skip 3 ch, tr in next ch. Repeat from * 6 more times, ch 5, skip 3 ch, sc in next ch (9 sps). Ch 9, turn.

2nd row: Tr in sc (an increase), * ch 5, tr in next tr. Repeat from * 7 more times, ch 5, tr in 5th st of next ch. Ch 9, turn.

3rd row: Tr in 1st tr (an increase), * ch 5, tr in next tr. Repeat from * across, ending with ch 5, tr in 5th st of turning ch. Ch 9, turn.

Repeat 3rd row until there are 16 sps in the row. This completes half of soap pouch. Work other half to correspond, decreasing 1 sp at end of each row—to dec. a sp, make tr in last tr on row, holding back the last loop on hook; skip 4 ch, tr in next ch, holding back the last loop on hook; thread over and draw through all loops on hook—and, on last row, making ch-3 instead of ch-5 between tr's. Do not break off but make ch-5 loops all around outer edges.

Cord... Twist four strands, each 22 yds. long, tightly. Then double the twisted strands and give them a second twist in the opposite direction. Make another cord. Pass cords in and out of outer rnd of sps, in opposite directions, and sew ends together.

Flower ... To make a ring, wind thread 5 times around forefinger; make 24 sc in ring.

1st rnd: Ch 5, dtr in each of next 2 sc, holding back the last loop of each dtr on hook; thread over and draw through all loops on hook (a cluster); * ch 5, dtr in same st as last dtr of last cluster, dtr in next 2 sc and complete a cluster. Repeat from * around; join.

2nd rnd: In each ch-5 make sc, half dc, 5 dc, half dc and sc. Fasten off. Draw cord through center of flower so that it rests over gathered part of pouch.
