Easy Hook No. 2/0 (double zero) Glass Jacket

A Fudge Brown and White metallic crochet glass jacket with Afghan-style side striping. Originally published in Coats & Clark's O.N.T. #307, New Quick Tricks to Crochet & Knit.

Chain to fit snugly around glass; work to height desired

Pattern instructions

Bottom

BOTTOM

With Fudge Brown, work as for Pink Glass Jacket Pattern. Break off.

Side

1st row

With Fudge Brown make a chain long enough to fit snugly around glass. Insert hook in 2nd ch from hook and draw up a loop, retaining all loops on hook draw up a loop in each ch across, drop Brown, draw a double strand of White through first loop on hook and, working with White, * thread over and draw through 2 loops on hook. Repeat from * across.

2nd row

Ch 3, * thread over and insert hook through next vertical bar, draw loop through, complete a dc. Repeat from * across. Drop White, draw a loop of Brown through loop on hook. Ch 1, turn.

3rd row

Sc in each dc across, sc in top of ch-3. Ch 1, turn.

4th row

Retaining all loops on hook, draw up a loop in 2nd sc and in each sc across, drop Brown, draw double strand of White through first loop, * thread over and draw through 2 loops. Repeat from * across. Repeat 2nd, 3rd and 4th rows for pattern. Work in pattern until piece is height desired, ending with 3rd row. Break off. Sew narrow edges neatly together. Attach Brown to any sc on last row and sl st in each sc around. Break off.

Join bottom

Holding Bottom in place, attach Brown to any chain on starting chain and, working through both thicknesses, make sc in each ch and back loop of each sc around. Join and break off.
