A crocheted butterfly hair accessory made with pearl cotton in three colors, shaped over pipe cleaners and sewn onto a comb.

Notes
Divide each color into 2 parts and use thread double throughout.
Wings
With Turquoise ch 39. Sc in 2nd ch from hook, hdc in next ch, in next ch make dc, tr and dc; hdc in next ch, sc in next 2 ch, hdc in next ch, dc in next ch, in next ch make tr, dtr and tr; dc in next ch, hdc in next ch, sc in next 2 ch, hdc in next ch, dc in next ch, in next ch make tr and dtr; in next ch make dtr, tr tr and dtr; in next ch make dtr and tr; dc in next ch. This is center of row. Work back from center of row to correspond. Ch 1, turn.
Sc in front loop of each st across (54 sts). Fasten off.
With right side facing, attach Pink in 4th st from end. Ch 1, sc in same place where thread was attached, hdc in next st, dc in next st, tr in next st, dc in next st, hdc in next st, sc in next 2 sts, hdc in next st, dc in next st, in next st make tr, dtr and tr; dc in next st, hdc in next st, sc in next 2 sts, hdc in next st, dc in next st, in next st make tr and dtr; in next st make dtr, tr tr and dtr; in next st make dtr and tr; dc in next st, hdc in next st, sc in next st, sl st in next st. This is center of row; work other half to correspond. Ch 1, turn.
Sc in front loop of 29 sts. Sl st in next 2 sl sts, sc in front loop of next 29 sts. Fasten off.
With right side facing attach Purple in 13th st of last row. Ch 1, sc in same place where thread was attached, * in next st make hdc and dc; in next st make tr, dtr and tr; in next st make dc and hdc; sc in next 2 sts. Repeat from * once more, in next st make hdc and dc; in next st make tr, dtr and tr; in next st make dc and hdc; sc in next st. Ch 1, turn.
Sc in front loop of each st across. Fasten off. Skip 2 sc, 2 sl sts and 2 sc, attach Purple and work other side to correspond by working the 5th and 6th rows. Fasten off.
Attach Turquoise in end st of starting chain, then working over one pipe cleaner in order to cover it, make sc in each st of starting chain. Fasten off.
Body
With Purple work sc closely over other pipe cleaner. Fasten off. Fold covered pipe cleaner in half and sew together for 2 inches up from fold. Remaining 2 ends are antennae. Sew Body in place across center of Wings.
Finishing
Sew onto comb.
